By zero risk, I kid you not I ran a few matches 2 side torso rear, 8 side torso front armor. Haven't lost them. Didn't even get side torso damage in one match. In another I let someone chase me to try and get them to hit my side rears. Couldn't. Even with streaks the enemy could not hit my side rears. Then again the person probably wasn't aiming for them or tall enough to either (was a Raven 3L) and it's not like I said "shoot me in my sides!"

Basically from the front, left, and right, your CT front can be hit. There is Zero risk in using an XL engine, but as a result there is Zero protection for your CT.
Golden Boy is also the slowest of all Kintaros (290 engine) versus the rest (360 engines). This means the Golden Boy is the worst one to use for brawling. It makes up for this by having 65 total missile tubes available. Most other Kintaros are listed as having 28 to 40 tubes.
The sides of your front CT wrap around closer to the back than shown, too, just as a heads up. This means you can be hit front CT from these angles if you have no arms.

_ where you can't be hit front CT. This means the brawler aspect is hurt in a Golden Boy. But.. The Golden Boy tops out at 94 kph.
Regular Kintaros top out at 116 kph. That would certainly improve the brawler aspect to them.
Great news is Golden Boy makes up for this with up to 65 tubes (although realistically the most you can use is 60 due to 5 extra tubes in the CT). LRM-boat medium mech! O_O!
Test runs as LRM boat.
40 tubes is maximum for Kintaro 18 (assuming Smurfy's limits on slots is (#) per launcher). 29 tubes for Kintaro 19. 28 tubes for Kintaro 20. So they won't LRM-boat as well. Still, they're all faster than the Golden Boy. 22 kph or so faster.

How to test hitboxes. Open mechlab. Customize mech. Click body part. What gets selected is what you hit with a weapon by firing where you clicked. Now probe around. Some places might be harder to hit than you realize. Like the head.

Greetings MechWarriors!
Starting today all Kintaro variants can be purchased for ! Joining their golden brother are the KTO-18, KTO-19, and KTO-20 – for three times the Medium Missiles! We hope you all enjoy these new variants, and we look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!
(New skins cannot be added to the KTO-18, 19, or 20 yet, but will be able to August 20th. The basic skin can, however, be coloured.)
Cheers,

I truly enjoyed the game and hope they resolve these issues. If not I will play Free from time to time and keep waiting for Star Citizen.

The Golden Boy also has a TERRIBLE engine restriction in comparison to the other variants. People who purchased the Golden Boy, imo, were ripped off REAL good.

It's the same reason Dragons are an endangered species, there is zero advantage to running around as a giant CT. The Kintaro arguably has it even worse since it has less armour and seems to be designed as an SRM brawler - good luck surviving any up close tussle with such a massive bullseye, let alone working your way in and dodging long range fire and LRMs.
I'm sorry. I really wanted to like the Kintaro. When they unveiled the Golden Boy I thought "well, here's my new mech!" but they botched it. Botched it with terrible scaling and hitboxes.
I can't believe they did it again. Aren't developers supposed to learn from their mistakes and get BETTER at things instead of worse? People complain for months that the Cent is too big for a medium, so they release the Treb which stands even taller. They complain about the Stalker being smaller than the Cat, so they release the Quickdraw that somehow dwarfs them all. The Dragon's giant CT pretty much graunteed it a place on the scrap heap, so they release the Kintaro, a medium which is taller than than most heavies, wider than any other medium, and 80% CT hitbox. Just ridiculous.

Well it's not like there was a scam or anything. It was known in advance that other Kintaro's have bigger engines than GB. If you bought it at don't like it, blame yourself.

Wrench, I'd ask you to relax. Some of the issues you mention are purely aesthetic and very, very subjective.
I've watched people play dragons in 12s, 4s abd pugs. We don't even have the standard variants in games nor quirks for the mechs.

"Relax"? Like I'm being hysterical? Look, I just pointed out real issues with the Kintaro and the game, nobody threw a hissy fit.
I'm sorry, but scaling issues are not "purely aesthetic". It really hurts a mech's potential when it has half the armour and firepower of an assault, but is almost as big. Notable offenders being the Quickdraw (!) and to a lesser extent the Treb and Cent. The Treb is way too tall, the Cent way too wide. It negates their supposed speed/agility advantage and just means they can be focused out and blasted easier.
And yeah, I still see the odd Dragon around too. I always notice someone running a Dragon because it's like spotting a unicorn in a misty meadow. If you don't think the Dragon's massive CT has damaged the mechs popularity and viability, you're bonkers.
These are actual problems with the way PGI builds their mechs, and like I said, it's disheartening to see them get worse at it instead of better. The original scaling of the Jenner, Hunch, Cat, and Atlas was pretty great - why does it seem like they've forgotten what they knew? I can forgive the Cent being a little wide with it's giant ape arms, it was one of the first mechs made after the original 4. But to see the same mistakes made again and again, and worse? I don't think it's hysterical or overreacting to call them on it.
