So, Kintaros. Has Anybody Seen One Non-Golden-Boy Out There?

PGI, maybe this is a lesson? Provide a decent product, we buy. The Scaling, and hitboxes on the Kintaro are absolutely horrible. The worst weaknesses of the Awesome and Dragon, but even less armor. BRILLIANT. (Especially since it's load out is meant for SRMs originally).
Anybody else see one?

I still have no idea how any of PGI's staff could think this 'Mech would possibly be useful or even remotely viable in the game, not if they've ever listened to the feedback on the Awesome and other unfortunate designs.
The developers should reconsider their position on the re-modelling and re-scaling of 'Mechs if they expect to sell another Golden Boy; otherwise, one can only hope that they will be more sensitive and cautious with future 'Mech releases.

People buy what they like and the Victor was/is a hugely popular mech that also happens to be good looking.
Who really heard of the Kintaro before MWO? It's not in the same class (pun intended) as th Victor popularism wise.
I know I bought one Victor when it was on early bird not knowing a single thing about it in game cos I've been a fan of one for the longest time.

Does PGI even check their player telemetry?

Now imagine for a moment.......those were URBANMECHS on sale.........they even release some MG urbanmechs.......some UM-MGX.
And bishop you click to buy one and it comes up to where you can name it......right when everything is about to be final...... then some wire gets caught on your dog's leg.......and he jumps out the window with the computer.......
So you get your computer back together......and some how managed to buy a bunch of colors but then realize you have exactly enough mc to get one urbanmech........ and your dog comes to you all happy.....and you like stand up and say get the hell away you damn dog.......but you spill coffee and accidentally get some single use cobra skin for a victor......... So then you look for you wallet and you see your dog with it running off in the horizon......... The End.

In fairness the design probably would have fared better in 8v8- at least on the smaller maps.
As it is, there are a combination of factors that screw over the Kintaro: It's like a perfect storm of fail.
In addition to not quite having the tonnage/tube count to really effectively use LRMs (more on this later) and being a subpar energy weapon sniper (no jump jets, low slung energy hardpoints and low slung hardpoints in general, etc):
1: Due to the cramming-in of missile hardpoints on several variants, you have to choose between not using all of them and not using artemis.
2: Due to the above, you are are forced to close in, or at least camp around a corner and pray your ***** teammates don't get their dumb selves slaughtered before an enemy decides to come around it and eat a faceful of SRM and MLAS.
2a: If you use artemis, you only have to get "real close", which is "dangerous" in a medium, "extremely dangerous" a mech with a large body & huge CT hitbox, and "LOL NICE KNOWING YOU SUCKER" in 12 v 12. Combine all of those in one mech and you have the Kintaro.
2b: If you don't use artemis you need to get within French kissing range, which is quite doable- if difficult at times... and that leads us to point three:
3: In part due to the recently implemented heat penalties, you aren't going to be able to fire your weapons very much without overheating in short order (long before your target is destroyed, either due to its speed or armor).
Remember, you're in a medium mech with a giant CT that just stepped into at least one enemy mech's line of sight- unless you lucked out and the collective tonnage of your opponent(s) is quite low, your lifespan is now measured in seconds, so your choices here are either to alpha strike until you've shut down or pepper them with fire and then die to enemy fire in roughly the same amount of time, having done less damage.
Now, ordinarily this would just be an annoyance rather than a critical flaw, but here's the thing:
4: Let's do a quick overview, shall we? The Kintaro:
1: Is poopy or subpar at best with long range weapons, and even applying the range-extending artemis technology has it's drawbacks.
2: Needs to get up close to take full advantage of it's weapon loadout, which is INCREDIBLY dangerous due to 4 more enemy mechs, a giant CT hitbox, and medium mech armor.
3: Has serious overheating problems.
This combines to make it so that you almost cannot win when playing a Kintaro as it is designed to be used. In any encounter, you will:
1: Be outranged and die like a dog.
2: Get in close, alpha strike twice (sometimes three times!) and then:
3: Overheat, then die LONG before you can "wake up".
Getting close enough to use your SRMs effectively means getting too close to survive for very long once the fighting starts- and WAY too close to have any hope in hell of running to safety/cover while you cool down, or simply when you want to retreat- even with the biggest engine possible.
The enemy will fill your broad back with holes faster than you can say "Wasted MC".
--
If you want to use LRMs, the limited number of missile ports and lack of tonnage will cause you to weep tears of blood as 12 mech's worth of AMS (remember, although the X-5 has no AMS, at least two mechs (a stalker and an atlas) have dual ams...) shoot down most of your missiles.
SSRMs are a joke now.
And yes, there are also a few other things, but these are longstanding problems, neither unique to the Kintaro nor introduced in a recent patch:
The size of the mech (The Trebuchet says hi. The Awesome is too busy crying itself to sleep on it's huge pillow)
The size of the CT hitbox (The Dragon says hi)
Well, you get the idea...

All died within moments of making contact.
Except for one. He ran. He was the smart one.
We killed him last.

Sorry tried to post image inserted like you guys do but it was 1900x1200 didn't want to explode the forums.
It CAN be done it is a nice little mech you just have to understand how to use it well, as it's style is completely different than the other current mediums that are in the game now.
BTW was using the stock config 20 all did was trade in the XL my catapult had on it. Think it was 5 engine rating higher than the standard it uses and added Artemis and a double heat sink.

Course not, as long as noboy is shooting at you it's a pretty decent mech.
Problems is Atlas's will run through enemy formations just for the chance to one shot you.
