I have quite a few mechs, but run 2 of them 90% of the time. I love light mechs, not because they're overly survivable, but because I like zooming around. I'll spend time just jetting from rooftop to rooftop... playing conquest and trying to land on the helipad at each cap point. I can not for the life of me make the commando work for me, but that's ok. Every once in a while I take my death's knell out and have a *blast*... while doing, lets call it... not very well.

Anyone else really enjoy piloting something that just... doesn't work for you?

Note: the above isn't saying commandos are bad, just that they don't work for me. Give me one jump jet on a deaths knell and I'd be in love though :P

vroom!

Looking forward to the locust.. that seems like it'll be like zooming around on an ultralight two stroke dirtbike!

Ya but its gotta be dragons for me, I love their speed the look of them and even their hardpoints but damn does that CT just melt when someone looks at me funny.

Ha yeah - every once in a while I run one, get annoyed that it's a much more hittable jenner without jets, then go run a jenner :P

I *want* to be better in it, but without jump jets I just stick to spiders. Just one jumpjet installed on the spiders = infinitely more useful. One jj per commando! That's the platform I'll be campaigning on.

For me, it's the Awesome. I have loved it ever since the boardgame days. But, as everyone who has tried to pilot it in MWO knows, it sadly is one of the worst mechs in this game due to its enormous CT hitbox.

I have nevertheless had some fun in the thing, but mostly used it (the 8R variant) as an LRM boat. That was before heat scale, when you could launch a whopping 60 missiles in one volley. My signature move was to lure an Atlas to chase me, thinking I was an easy prey, then run sideways away from him putting volley after volley into his front (3 or 4 was usually enough to kill him).

Thanks for the replies everyone! Keep them coming!
I'd like to see a few positive threads on the forums, so tell us how much you love something terrible!

Awesome hitboxes make me sad. Some of the best times playing this game were back in closed beta with a 3 PPC Awesome, before DHS and when PPCs were considered garbage.

Can't take them out anymore, just intentionally handicapping the team if you do so.

When I got to the point where I was slapping an XL on an Awesome, thinking, "What does it matter? My side torso's never get hit anyway", I knew it was time to sell that mech.

I've always liked dragons. I find the triple ac2 build to be "fun", and the gauss/2erll build is fun too. Not super handy, but fun. It's nice that you don't have to worry about running an XL lol.

the K2 Catapult.

I do ...respectable in it, but seldom GOOD, and probably have only done great a handful of times. It's one of my favorite looking mechs, and that is part of my problem, since I just cannot use it without PPCs in the arms. It just looks wrong without them.

But it's just so squishy.......I wants to loves it...... but I end up in my Jagers or Ilya instead. (even my VTRs I kinda got bored with, and I think it's the best chassis in the game)

For me it is the Dragon. At open point back in Closed Beta I used to melt faces in them, averaging about 3 kills a match but with all the changes including the addition of a ton of mechs that just plain outclass the Dragon now, I can't do well at all in them.

ha! this isn't the first thing we've agreed on! I had a k2 for a long time... it was never good enough for me to like it, but never bad enough to get rid of. It was... it was vanilla!

but such good looking vanilla that you just had to keep trying it, convinced that there HAD to be more flavor underneath......

*sigh*

I love my founder Hunchback. The mech can practically twist its torso to face directly backwards. With its fast and flexible torso twist, I can reliably hit light mechs with ac20 rounds.

honestly... Any Assault fit in to this category. I get in one and 3 minutes later i have forgotten that i am not in a light or a medium and try some friendly hit and run... Only to turn in to hit and burn.

I just can not make them work for me.

Pretty much my experience. The only exception for me is the VTR, and that's probably because I am not a good light pilot, but a Medium Pilot by nature, and the VTR with a 350XL moves a LOT like a supersized Centurion on a pogostick.

I just don't do well at the extremes of the spectrum. I just hope one of the Triplets fits me well, especially a Griffin. =)

The AWSOME is...my hopeless habit. Used to drive an 8Q...it is now the 80ton urbanmech of MWO...Wide, Slow and purposeless. Just for Trollin' (and Before GH), I ran a 6xPPC 1xMpLsr 8Q. To scale, this = TT in firepower, though heat was unmanageable.

PGI did a great job with the skin of the AWS, it looks powerful and "excitingly chuncky'. I still run my 9M and PB...because it is a challenge to keep them in the fight. They can do well in specialist roles.

I havent run Victors yet, every build I sketch out is FAR superior to the AWS. "!Sigh...!"

3xUAC/5 Jagermech. I know it's one of the FOTM, but it just doesn't work for me ;) 2xUAC/5 is great, but for some reason when I throw that third autocannon on it all goes to **** hahaha.

My Blackjacks hate me.

I like driving them, but I never do well in them.
