I've recently mastered the Dragon DRG-5N and Catapult CPLT-K2 and I've been looking to add a third though I'm not sure which one I should go for. I tend to play as a direct fire support and urban combat when possible. Balistics are my main form of offense, so a high ammo count is a must.
Here is my K2 build for reference: Catapult CPLT-K2 "Warthog"
I've heard some good things about the heavy mechs from my friends but they never went into detail them and their strengths and weaknesses. So I was hoping you guys can give me some help with this.
Thanks in advance.

If its ballistics you want then consider the Jagermech.
Pros - high arm mounted ballistic points allowing you to peek over terrain to shoot.
Can field all ballistics in some pretty good combos.
The variants are varied enough for you to play all three according to your tastes. You can even build a streakjager or mg harasser.
Cons - weak side torsos. If you run an XL play it very careful, the hit and run tactics you should have learnt mastering the Dragon will help immensely.
The only Jager with energy hardpoints on the arms is the Firebrand.
Also consider the Cataphract. I don't like the look of them personally so never bought any but I keep hearing really good things about the 3D.

This is a weird thing to say since both the dragons and cats are heavies as well haha.
As for the question, I would say Jager or Phract
Both need XL's for max DPS, but both are XL risky. (Though a firebrand can run a decent DPS energy build with a STD engine)
The biggest pros for either;
Jagers: fires from the cockpit, this makes a great peek-a-boo mech and sniper. Plus you rarely waste ammo/shots hitting the ground on hills/cliffs
Phracts: They get an extra 5 tons, it doesn't seem like a lot, but every bit counts with ballistics&ammo. That 5 tons means the difference between 4XAC5 vs 4XUAC5, or 2UAC5+AC2 VS 2UAC5+2AC2. That's and extra 25-35% DPS on sustained Dakka fire.

That has got 'Jagermech' written all over it. If it is ballistics you want, Jagermech is the way to go. Personally, I didn't fall for it but it seems to be one of the most popular mechs out there, so there must be something to it. You can go 4xAC/2, 3xAC/5, 2xAC/20 or 2xGauss, or some other more unorthodox combination.

+1 Jagermech. These things are boss and look amazing on the field.

The Jager would be an obvious choice if you favor ballistics. Also, the Heavies have been sort of neglected for much variety... It's really dependent upon what kinda play style.
The Catapult was the 1st good heavy ballistic chassis in my opinion, because the Dragon was too chesty for my taste.
Also with the Dragon, either your CT was going to be torn open, or your right arm was going to go bye bye. With that being axed your firepower was severely affected.
The Cataphract is a good design that is a current favorite because the firepower to weigh ratio is so high. The problem with the chassis is that I feel as though the CT is sooo easy to core through. Even with lighter mechs, I can blast the heck out of a Cataphract's CT. Oh, and your rear armor.... laughable.
The Quickdraw does not have a ballistic slot, so I won't even cover it.
I think the Catapult K2 chassis is superior since I have put just about every ballistic weapon on it with backup weapons and have been able to run it successfully. But you should know this already since you own one. Yes, there are notable issues, with the cockpit being exposed to enemy fire and if you put too much on it, it will be reduced to a small walking turtle.
If you want to risk the additional firepower of the ballistic chassis, then go Jager. Too many people have gone for the Cata, and fallen into the PPC/Gauss Meta. Try to stay about the current Meta.
