I knew something wasn't right with mech leg movement, but I never paid too much attention it, with all the PPCs,Gausses and LRMs flying around.

Now that I have, I noticed that mech feet clip through terrain because they're being spun around the ankle point to mimic human foot movement.
Lore and actual items in the mech aside, mimicking human foot movement is taking stompy out of stompy robots.

This might not be that noticeable in combat, but during the initial march it really screws up the immersion.
Why not just imagine that there's a gyro in each ankle keeping the feet horizontal, instead of this illogical foot movement.

Because of lore... and stuff...

Also my guess is that it helps give a illusion of fluid motions if they are familiar to us.

No clue really.

The Catapult has the best leg and foot animation <probably to do with the backward knee movement> just walk behind a catapult and stare at its a*se and you'll see what I mean...

Atlas's have the best hip wiggle though... Gotta love 'dat big old booty!

I remember reading an official dev post (sorry no link) that they pulled it because of performance issues and it was causing odd-ball visual glitches when mechs were scaling hills... Now that we're scaling said hills much less, I say hell yes, add in those stompy motions again!

All mechs with claw like feet have it done right and looks awesome. All other mechs, with human like feet have it done just plain wrong.
