Can we see a form of customization above and beyond what we can do in the garage for players that are dedicated to one mech?
Example.
Say I LOVE my Catafract 3D except that I wish the LT/RT energy hard points were moved to the arms.
I love my Awesome 8t, but I wish I could put in a bigger engine.
So say implement a level above master, say 100,000 mech XP AND 20,000 GXP (example) pay a flat rate of X, and then be able to buy a "mod" from the skill tree set such as add Jump Jets, move Hard point etc etc. This way their could be a very expensive, extra level of customization for people who are dedicated to their one "baby"
But the intent is for the change to be costly, require XP and money to even allow the change, and then more money or xp or both to actually make the specific change.
Like swapping the engine in your Impala with one fro a corvette. It can be done, but its going to cost you.

I doubt very highly that this is something that would ever be taken into consideration or should be.
Too much possibility for things to go wrong. Elite players will end up with uber mechs that just dont make sense half the time and arent cannon.
Also, its a mechbay, not a garage

No thanks. You'd see dual gauss arm K2s, and that would probably be OP In some way.

This is only something that you could do once. Add jump jets OR do bigger engine, not continue to make changes until its a new mech.
Mordynak, I don't see how you can say that that is not cannon. Look at the hero mechs. Look though the books and Sarna and see all the mechs that pilots spent time money and salvage to change. Yen-lo-wang had what amounted to a hatchet on its non gun arm. A marauder used by one of the bounty hunters had energy weapons mounted in the side torso. Look at the mechs of the solaris pits that incorporated chainsaws and all manner of equipment as they saw fit.
In fact, during the succession wars due to lack of proper parts and trained techs many mechs were "franken mechs" having repaired battlefield damage with salvage from the battlefield causing all numbers of non standard configurations.

I can see what you mean, it would be nice. However its pretty unfair to the newer players or others that don't enjoy grinding out one mech. The fact that you focus on one mech means you would probably get more proficient at piloting that particular chassis over others in the same chassis. That should be advantage enough?

Oooh, Atlas-D with 2x Gauss and 2x ERPPCs. Effective 50pt, pinpoint alpha, at 800m.
