Launch Will Kill This Game

People who paid money will get reimbursed with the entire amount they spent thrown back onto their account.
That's how a beta works. Even an open beta. Progress wipes for retail release.
Well that progress wipe is going to ruin this game. Immediately.
It's become pretty damn clear that the c-bill nerf was a deliberate, direct, pre-medidated occurance. It wasn't just a 'slip'. And guess what, PGI? When this wipe happens, and it moves to full release, and everyone has to start from 0? Ahahaha.
That 10% of forum goers who defend the nerf to cbills? That 10% that already has 20 million just sitting there, and upwards of ten or fifteen mechs in their bays? They're going to be faced with the same endless, BS grind as all of the new players.
The analogy of rats fleeing a sinking ship comes to mind.
Just calling it now, so I can say 'I told you so' later.
I don't beleive that I'll be playing this game ever again. I can put up things being broken by new patches, that's fine. It's a beta.
But when it's clear that your meta is deliberately leaning towards forcing new players to grind? Enjoy the money you got off me, I won't be giving you any more.
I wasn't willing to grind to get assault mechs BEFORE the nerf, so I bought my Stalkers, all three of them. And my Atlas DDC. Because ECM is fun. I also bought premium time. I am most definitely a 'paying customer'. I'm what you want to attract.
But when you make the grind so bad that buying a single new weapon for your mech can take upwards of five matches? For a single MID-GRADE weapon?
An assault mech, with no upgrades, could take 70, to 100 matches to get. Weapons? Another 20 matches conservatively. Double heat sinks? Another 15 or so matches. And let's not forget an XL engine. And if you want to test something new? Don't even bother.
As a paying customer, I can safely say that these changes will not make me spend more. They're actually making me pay less. Pay 100% less. If I had pre-ordered your new shiny mechs? I'd be wanting a refund for them. Thank god I didn't.
So for your sake, PGI. I hope you don't wipe progress at launch. Because even your staunch supporters will mostly desert you.
Tis a shame. I actually liked this game.
This is a paying customer, flipping you off and leaving.
P.S. I still have two weeks or so of premium time remaining on my account. It's not even worth using it at this point.

PGI said that they weren't going to wipe all the accounts. If they do they'll face a Storm of the likes they have never seen.
-oddly, I would like the account wipe since it brings back everyone to level, with day 1 guys on par with day 1000s.
but if you want to storm off due to misinformation, be my guest.

About the only thing that may face a possible wipe is stats when/if they implement achievements.

You don't have to play longer than in any other successful MMO...
Lets compare it to "the successful MMO", how many hours do you need to play one WOW character until you have max level and all the equipment? You can master at least 6 Mech chassis in that time even if you play really bad!
You can complain that its more repetitive and has much less content, but this other game was made with x times the money in 12 years of time... so be a little more patient! Just enjoy the game and dont look at your cbill counter every 10 minutes, that does not make it grow faster!

I have to look at my cbill counter, because I play games for progression.
I have sunk over 350 hours and countless real life dollars into Warframe, a game commonly referred to 'warfarm' or 'farmframe' because of how much time you spend just farming for materials to get a new weapon.
But the thing is, I can get a new weapon on warframe well, well before I max out my current ones. I can new frames well before I max out my current ones. I spend as much time enjoying my purchases as I do trying to get new ones.
But Warframe isn't an arena-based PVP shooter.
literally the only thing you can do in MWO is shoot at other people.
Other people with better equipment, better setups, and ultimately better ability to play the game.
I have three stalkers I paid for with real money. The Misery, the laser boat with three missile slots, and the missile boat with four missile hard points. For some reason, I made the x3 my main missile mech. Don't ask me why. I'm crazy.
I put ARTEMIS on it.
Now, what if I want to put ARTEMIS on my other mech? That's a million credits right there. If I remember correctly (I probably don't).
Before the patch? With my Misery? AND premium time? I'd just do like, five matches. Done. Maybe six if I was having a bad day.
Now it's TEN matches. Ten. Even if I'm doing decently. And the matches drag on LONGER now. So they're MORE than doubled the amount of 'grind' I need just to put Artemis in.
Double heat sinks? Don't even bother.
An XL engine? Are you ******* crazy?
I have THREE MECHS TO KIT OUT.
These would all take hundreds of matches to build to what I want them to be, and guess what? That's AFTER I purchased all of the mechs with MC!
PGI has just completely lost the plot. They've looked at people who have played the game since day 1, and looked at how much money they've earned and gone 'gee, there's no credit sink. We should REALLY decrease the earnings for everyone!'
And they're basically saying 'hey, **** the new guys'.
And don't even pretend to me that builds are 'balanced' and that XL engines have 'balanced drawbacks'.
Simply put, this game is about alpha damage. Plain and simple.
XL engines let you put more weapons, heavier payloads, more ammo, and more heatsinks into the same frame.
ARTEMIS lets you put more missiles on target for more damage, or make your SRMs fly in a tighter cluster.
Hell, wanna buy one really good laser? Ten matches, right there.
I put four of those things on my stalkers at once.
As an established player, the cbill nerf is utterly, stupidly, incomprehensibly unfair and pointless. That's with premium time! New players are going to get a sniff of the grind and just leave.
I hope your like your community the way it is, because if this change isn't reversed, then there won't be a great deal of 'growth'. Period.
PGI are catering to the 5% of people who enjoy mindless repetition with no sense of gain and to those people who are already over-established and could drop ten million for a new mech in the blink of an eye.

is
not
making
any
sense!
No reset on Launch!
MAYBE the Stats will be reseted, because of the achievements that will come. But this Stat reset only take place on the surface, because PGI still need theses stats for they're precious ELO.
Dont Panic!
you get it
?

whats gonna happen is, that all the newbies are put against expirienced players with much much much better equipment.
Wanna feel whats its like? play for example Freelancer, or such old games you never played before online, be sure they are at least 3-4 years out of interrest - your just getting annihilated - all the time
therefore i am pretty sure the already difficult entry for a newbie has been made much worse

Nevertheless, yeah the start might be a bit rough (or more than a bit)...then again that is the case in every F2P i ever tried (granted the size of that sample is pretty miserable.... about 4ish )

but yeah, they stopped doing wipes/rollbacks when we hit open beta, this is actually common practice in f2p games to cease wipes when they hit open/public beta, as the always start taking money then.
