to me the 3d is much easier to kill.

The Highlander certainly does, but without the same speed. The Victor can't be considered as good as either the Lander nor the Cataphract, unless we're speaking of the DS.. Victor arms are tremendoulsy open wide, convergence issues arise and both shoot from the hip, while HGN and CTFs only have the gauss that shoots from a lower position.

Whenever you don't want to expose too much, the 2 ppcs require much less jump height, and on the Cataphract are in the highest and favourable position available.

Besides this I like IM with triple UAC5 and 3ML (although sometimes I outfit that also with ppcs and gauss or 2 gr and 1 PPC for the ultimate cheesy, although painfully slow and ammo lacking), while my 1X is outfitted with AC 20 and 5ML. Perfect Pinpoint boombrawler. I sold my 2X and never even touched the sluggish 4X that I advice every1 to avoid and with Jags around it's even less useful now.

The blind parroting of the present PPC+Gauss rail to be far less imaginative than any similarity in Phract configurations... :P

Hmm,

I have 3 phracts, and don't own a single PPC, ERPPC or Gauss rifle. I guess that means I have imagination?

Well i like it close...

It works really well, people don't expect that setup in a 3D

Considering buying a second 3d simply for this build

It's worth it. It's literally the only phract I kept. 14 DHS, 4 ML, 1 AC20 = tons of fun. Run around in bright *** paint, beat the pants off everything in sight. It's pretty tanky and can put out some pretty good damage. The JJ's make this mech though, with the ability to turn fast in a brawl, get up slopes, etc.

My 2X build Brawling with style

Been a while since i used it but quite effective, with a good sinergy off the LPL+Ac.20, just keep the meds to finish any section who survived the onslaught.

If you see someone who complains about the Cataphract, you've found an easy kill.

Not much because that's a terrible build.

The AC/20 is the only alright part about that build. A LPL and Streaks? Both weapons are awful. LPL offers no advantage over the ER PPC at present of note, and Streaks nosedived after they now randomly shoot at arms and legs.

The 2X is poised for a comeback IMO, but this design is now how that's going to happen. Get some regular SRMs on that thing and it will make a huge step forwards.

I run a 1X with AC/20 + 5ML. Pretty standard build, not really imaginative, but totally not PPC + Gauss!

Negative bro. I put AC/20s in most of mine with Large and Medium Lasers.

CTF-4X

ILYA MUROMETS

CTF-3D

CTF-2X

CTF-1X

Sure the 2X and the 3D are similar. Oh well. I guess I don't have any imagination.

Own every single CTF, including the muromets. No ppc+guass for me.

Meet my personal Frankenstein CTF 4x:

STD 255, 2 LBX10, 2 MGs, 1 ER LL, 1 SRM4. Excellent zombie. I love this thing.

I like to play my muromets with AC20 and PPc a lot.

The rest, I constantly change their loadouts.

Come get some of my imagination, cant use it all.

I beg to differ. Check this out: CTF-3D (the last half ton went into armour but you get the idea)

If those lasers were ERPPCs, with one in the torso, they wouldn't be as useful against well-piloted light 'mechs.

See now i'm ashamed i can't bring this to your op 12v12 builds.. oh sec i don't care.

If my intent would be play turret at 600m i'll be using a ****** ppc+gauss, guess this is for BRAWL where at 300m i can deal almost twice the DMG of a PPC with the LPL instead risking a miss hit and wasting the whole dmg in an unwanted section (the enemy pilot can has skill too you know)

About the SStreak nosedive? what they aren't the always hit CT weapon?? so what it does wonder wrecking legs and arms, plus the aimed fire of the LPL helps way better to leg it than a single pinpoint hit (that you can miss more easily with a PPC due HSR broken, fast moving, lag etc etc).

TL;DR: that you can't make a build work or just like it doesn't mean the build is a failure.

My Lyr Mu has AC20, 2 UAC 5 and 1 ML.
My JJ Cataphract uses 2 LBX 10 and 4 ML.

I also have an AC20, 2 LBX 10 Lyr MU build that is fun (actually got two kills at the same time, one volley, firing into a pack of wounded).

I run my -3D as such:

4xMLas + AC/10 + AC/2
310XL + JJs
Near full armor cept legs...

With the speed tweak I fly around @ nearly 80kph + have full vertical maneuverability... I can reach out and remind snipers not to stick their cockpits out and can stop-gap brawl dropping nearly 5 DPS and keep my target on their heels...

I've got a -3D I no longer run that has the 2xEPPC+Gauss config but I honestly have much greater KDR and better "win" ratio piloting the -3D.

the PPC+Gauss is nothing but a trumped-up boogieman that continues to self propagate like a flipping Urban Legend....

On My 4X I've run AC/2s, AC/5s & Gauss. I should try AC/10s some time.
On my 3D I tried 2x LPL & LB-10/X...that didn't work so well. I will admit that I tried Dual ER PPC & Gauss for one match...I got so much XP in that one match that I got all the XP I needed to finish the basics. I immediately stripped the mech and showered I felt so dirty.

Virtually nothing, sadly.

Seriously why are you using LBX when it's trash-tier gear, at least the AC/10 does somewhat respectable damage.

hard to take anything seriously from someone who "likes" their own comments.

Also, while hardly ideal, those who are paying attention know the LB-X can be viciously effective. As for the "somewhat respectable damage" of an ac/10? I invite you to come at me and my dual 10s, ANYTIME. They have a greater max range than a PPC, and unlike PPCs and ER PPCs you don't need cool off periods. every 2.5 seconds I am pounding your face with 2 more shots, real world on my 3rd shot by the time you are on your second. And by your 3rd, you are looking for cover to cool off, or frantically punching your cool shot and override buttons.

But by all means, contribute to the myth of these weapons and their inferiority. And keep scratching your head about how you died when unimaginative Jager and Phract pilots keep coring you out with them.

Well, I sold all my Phracts except the 3D, but aside from the obvious 2PPC+Gauss, had great fun with the following (engines mostly 280/300 STD or XL 325 / 340, or you can go extreme with 275 std and stripping armor from arms if you want to make it a stick):

3 PPC + 340 XL JJ back before Ghost heat,
4 ML AC20/Gauss + STD 280/300 JJ,
4 ML 2x AC10 + JJ
4 ML 2x UAC5 + JJ
2 LL 2 ML AC 10 +JJ
2x Gauss + some ML + JJ
AC20+ERPPC+2 ML + JJ Jump-brawling with this (with STD engines mind you) was one of the most exhilarating experience for me :P
On the other hand never had great success with 4 LL or pulse lasers in CTF.

So there are more options than 2xPPC+Gauss, they just take some more effort to make these builds work.
The CTF arms/shoulders are one of the best for torso-twisting shielding in the game.
Pair it with the high-mounted torso weapon slots and you got a monster of a mech.
Also, the bird legs make it pretty unique. CTF <3 : D .

have been considering buying a 3D to try this out
CTF-3D

I find while I CAN snipe if needed with an AC20, the dual 10 is MUCH better for it. And I like my fast jackhammer effect when I brawl. And haven't found XLs much of an issue (with the current meta, usually get cored CT if I die anyhow), but occasionally, I do wish my Ilya or Jager had JJs.
