But he is calling the hunch a brawler in MWO, which is it not, and never will be with that huge hunch on its shoulder. That iconic hunch is the biggest achilles heel to the mech. And it will never be a brawler ever, because of that hunch. Lore does not always transfer well.

Braggart, that doesn't mean they can't fix the Hunch hitbox in some way (damage resistance to that area, etc.). While it looks cool to have a huge *** Hunch on a namesake Hunchback, it definitely does not bode well for the Mech in actual gameplay with unbalanced hitbox drawing. And yes, that is why the huge hunch variants are rare to see in matches, even though something like the 4G was considered a decent Urban Brawler.

Damage resistance for the hunch would be utterly awesome, and really give the HBK some flavour IMHO.

they could, and i hope they do. I have been saying that damage resistance for the hunch would be much needed, but even then 10% resistance isnt enough to allow them to brawl, as that is still 2 alphas and it is gone. I feel it would require at least 25% resistance to damage in order to make them competitive. As everyone knows how to quickly and effectively ruin a hunchback, and there is no amount of torso twist or evasion that you can do to protect that thing.

I also dont get why the flipping centurion gets the missle bay 10% resistance on its torso. Gives the best 50 tonner an even bigger advantage over the others.

I always assumed the missle bay protection was just 'normal' armor points with it closed, and it was 10% weaker with it open. But it would be interesting to do the same thing with the Hunchback. Maybe they could ad a little 'cannon protector' lid that would work the same way?

it is 10% stronger when closed, and normal when open.

I am really happy to see the simple change is being made, instead of leaving the hitboxes the same size but instead introducing Ghost Hits where the game periodically enables shots to pass straight through the Kintaro's CT to average out the damage to what was originally envisioned. Because that's how things have been going lately.

Again, many thanks for simply fixing the issue instead of inventing new mechanics to dance around it ineffectually. This is a step in the right direction.

KEEP IT UP.

I am going to analyze this objectively. This is spoken millions of times. You can do this when you want, this one proves it but you still haven't done this for Awesome. Were telling this since closed beta. I ask my humble devs humbly, what is your problem with Awesome? You wont be harmed by accepting what is obvious and fixing it, instead your community will praise you.</p>
If you wont fix Awesome as well, don't fix Kintaro.

Edit: From what Teleforce said I have seen Russ's comment as well. Hope this is fixed, and soon if possible. We have waited for a long time.

Too little too late.

Agreed. The Kintaro has earned its existing reputation as a poorly designed mech.

Posted this in the other topic and was hoping for an answer.

I get the idea behind the hitboxes and it makes sense- big parts=big target=big box. But I'm not sure I entirely understand the weapon damage to armor physics of the game.

IE, I had a KTO-20 with zero damage to armor at this point in the match. Meaning I haven't taken any fire at all. I looked left and received 2 Gauss rounds from a Jaegger in the front. All damage went to CT (big hit box) and all my armor was stripped from it to display an exposed yellow CT. I can say I didn't last much longer.

I'm under the impression that if my KTO has 52 points of armor than it should take 52 points of damage to strip it off. 2 Gauss rounds equals 30.

Am I wrong in this understanding?

If my thinking is correct than there is more here than just big hitboxes. And if thats the case than I believe the Victor may be suffering from this same issue.

If it's so easy to fix the CT hitbox for the Kintaro, why is it so hard to fix the Awesome's hitboxes? What's going on here?

EDIT: Just saw Russ's comment on Page 2 of the topic. Looking forward to future changes

I think the problem lays in that the awesome can actually do 'okay' with its terrible hitboxes. The kintaro can be cored from across the map by Michael J Fox blindfolded.

People aren't really going to be buying Awesomes, especially not with MC.

This. The GB was my first and last Hero Mech.

Though I am happy they change my Kintaro... But I will be more cautious in future purchases.

Well.. there was nothing wrong with the Kintaro hit detection boxes on the test servers with this 'Mech. Sometimes when PGI transfers content to the live servers, things can change. Obviously the Golden Boy was one of these exceptions. It's still an excellent choice out of the Heros as far as I'm concerned. They just have to find all the problems and neutralize them. These things can take time.

I know that my GB will stay on the shelf until they fix It.. but this does not mean It Is a regrettable purchase for me.

oddly today in back seat of a wang, I watch him demolish a spider over a three minute period, each time he fired slightly ....behind it....and hit everytime... I don't think its anything to do with the spider needing fixes.

its hit registration which if you read the latest dev report from the 7th you'll see an acknowledment of the problem and that its being worked on

HSR aside, The spider is smaller than the commando which has more mass yet is 5 tons lighter. If it was a tad bigger I think it would help with the issue. While a few mechs are scaled to big, I feel this one is a tad to small. To me it looks like a 10 ton mech.

The real question is, why keep this defective design up for purchase if you haven't fixed it yet? C Bills is one thing, but to charge MC right off the bat when you haven't even fixed the hit box is ludicrous. Glad I didn't buy one.
