A nice gesture and something that you had no obligation to give us, thank you kindly for this nice surprise

Edit: Btw (I haven't gone through the whole thread), has anyone noticed the Phoenix patterns include the Tier designation (Guardian, Overlord, etc) on the 'mech itself? Nice detail.

For comparison, Here was the default PCGamer colors when they first allowed us to change colors on that skin (around Feb. 2013):

However, if you tried to apply the PCGamer colors to any other 'mech, you'd be in for a surprise because they weren't the same colors. Even if you tried to reapply the PCGamer colors to the actual PCGamer skin, you'd end up with a different color:

Posted Image

Eventually they got around to fixing them so they were colors that more approximate the colors that PCGamer actually uses and are the same whether using the new default PCG colors or "re"-placing them back on the skins:

And just for funsies, Here's the same mech with the same pattern in more of a Project Phoenix color config using PCGamer colors:

Posted Image

And then using colors more closely resembling the Phoenix colors (I think we will end up with something slightly more orange than Cadmium Red, and the white may be something between Ash Grey and Titanium White):

I'm not easy to please; this is the one game in my favourite IP that is less than 10 years old, and which currently has a chance of success and further development.

The BattleTech IP will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year. There was a 10-year gap between the start of this game's development and the release of the last MechWarrior game alone.

Well I am happy about the colors since I really wanted to get black but didn't want to pay for it. Now I just need them to put the other two colors I want on sale and we will be golden or rather a nice camo hehe.

As far as the variants, some of them look pretty good.

We have at least one or two Locust variants that should at least be ok though I still wish the one that has the bonus didn't suck the most. I am also happy to see the Shadow Hawk variants one of which looks to be damn nice. Also them adding in a Thunderbolt that can jump made my day.

The ones I am least excited about are the Battlemasters. One of them is pretty much just dumbed down copy of the original only with the Ballastics and Energy reversed on the arms and missing a few Energy and the Missile slots. The other is primarily a missile boat that will end up being weaker than the stalker in that capasity.

Yes, but I hope that they are not fixed to the 'mech or the particular package that you bought. Although unlikely, I'd prefer it if those designations were more like "decals" (remember the decal system we're supposed to be getting?), where if you bought a package, not only do you get the decals for that tier, but all the tiers underneath as well. For example, if you get the Overlord package, you'd get the Overlord decals as well as the Guardian, Storm and Talon decal sets too.

I know I'd like my BattleMaster wearing "Guardian", Thunderbolt wearing "Storm", ShadowHawk wearing "Talon", and Locust wearing "(tiny) Overlord"

"Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs! " When you say this do you mean "all" my mechs or, just the PF mechs?

It specifies "Any owned Mech in your Mech lab." So, I'm pretty sure it means they're like any other colour in the game. Unlike the Flame pattern in Phase 03, that states only for "your owned phoenix 'standard variant' mechs."

Which is too bad. Because a Flame pattern would be awesome for any of my speed mechs, in my case my Cicadas and one of my Trebuchet (which is already painted in Blood Orange).

Golly jee a flame pattern and a single cockpit item as stretch goals? Man... a FLAME pattern no less! I'll be able to put that flame pattern next to my hot wheels toy on my desk in elementary school so all the kids can see how cool and edgy I am.

And the best part is that they haven’t even finished them yet. I have 4 Founders Mechs that don't match. Been that way for months now. 3 and a half weeks.

Fixed that fer ya.
I suspect that they've stopped production on those to maybe move onto the phoenix ones, or texture maps and create more assets, or they stopped because of the amount of feedback they've received from the new look. Few people liked the new looks. I jsut don't get why they don't put both camos in there. If they feel like changing it, they maybe should just put both camos (old, and new faded one) in because they 're ganna have some cranky people. It's an unessicary change at the moment, and why they even bothered to tamper with them now leaves me stuck in the wind with no pants on.

Boo... no SHD-2K (PPC instead of AC5)

Yeah, I was really hoping for the 2K model as well. That's always how I ran my SHD in TT, with a PPC, ML, and LRMs... Oh well, I'll still love the hell out of it anyway  Unless you think there's a chance to add additional variants down the road???

There could possibly be more variants and possibly hero variants down the road, but:
  • it might be a long road, they haven't even discussed Hero versions of the Founder 'mechs (Jenner {Not sure if Sarah's counts as a Hero or Champion or something else}, Hunchback, Catapult, Atlas)
  • Not sure what they would do for a Hero variant
Out of the three SHD variants we got:
  • The SHD-2H had to be there, it's the classic variant
  • The SHD-5M is the standard 3050 variant, it also pretty much has to be there
  • The SHD-2D2 is a pretty solid variant. When I'm not piloting the -2H(P), I'll probably be rocking the -2D2
But that leaves us with no SHDs that have a heavy energy weapon slung over that torso :)

That doesn't mean that we can't hope, can we? Here are the canon notable 'mech variants and pilots:
  • SHD-2H Shadow Hawk Sandy - Used by Alexander "Sandy" Romanov, a known associate of the Bounty Hunter, this Shadow Hawk is equipped with double heat sinks, a jump range of 150 meters, and a TAG unit. The weapons have been removed and replaced with a single Heavy PPC and Light PPC.
    • This one is outside of our timeframe (no heavy/light PPCs), but a Hero Variant that comes with a PPC in each torso and a TAG sounds... well, ok it's shakey, but *I* would like it anyway. Just imagine one of those over-the-shoulder cannons on each side!
  • Dechan Fraser, recruited in the Inner Sphere by Wolf's Dragoons, was a Sergeant in the Dragoons in 3023 but quickly rose through the ranks. By 3026 he was a Lieutenant in command of a lance, and on 8 October 3026 he was promoted to Captain. Piloting his dark blue Shadow Hawk with a golden falcon painted on the chest, Dechan Fraser helped Minobu Tetsuhara save Jaime Wolf's life on Quentin IV in 3023, successfully commanded a light company on Barlow's End in 3026, killed the CO of the attacking Ryuken on An Ting on 11 January3028 and killed Jerry Akuma two days later
    • It doesn't specify any weapon or equipment customizations, but you gotta admit that's an awesome paintjob, and that guy sounds like "Hero" quality to me.
  • Grayson "Death" Carlyle re-acquired a former Carlyle's Commandos Shadow Hawk after their rout on Trellwan. He used it as his personal 'Mech during the following campaign to free Trellwan from Duke Ricol and the Draconis Combine and during the infancy of the Gray Death Legion.
    • Yeah, yeah, everyone knows who this is
And then there's this monstrosity:

Apocryphal Variants
  • SHD-5S - The 5S is a variant of the 5M used by the Special Forces. It replaces all standard weapons with one Large Laser, one Medium Pulse Laser and four Medium Lasers. In addition, it carries a Beagle Active Probe in the right torso, while an Guardian ECM Suite is installed in the left torso. Its left arm is also equipped with a TAG, while its head contains a cargo space. It is armored by eleven and a half tons of standard armor.

Well not sure but for the Catapult the Butterbee may look like a C4 but with energy hardpoints at side torsos (4x SRM and 2x LL,LPL or PPC??) ppl would love that.

And for the Atlas the danielle, may be worth 3x energy on each arm plus ballistic minus missile spots, altought i may fear the outcome of Danielle, as an oversized Misery.

I am still absolutely not interested. I'd like the BM only, Locust is useless (for me of course), SH has rather useless hardpoints (missiles are too tiny in that thing), the Thunderbolt hardpoints looks good, but I fear that it will be called "Awesome II" for it being so wide.

Back in founder time Elite allowed you to pick a chosen mech among four. Now I can't pick any mech, I don't get any Phoenix package at all..

Oh, and by the way. Us founders should have founder colors unlocked and available for free to use in any mech by far..

Greetings, MechWarriors!
Project Phoenix has exceeded our wildest expectations in popularity, and we wanted to thank you for your support. As a token of our appreciation, we’re giving every Phoenix Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs!
As it continues its popularity, we’ll add more and more rewards to anyone who purchases, or has already purchased it. So if you already own it, here’s more stuff! And if you’ve just purchased it, thanks for giving people more stuff!
Also, we've added a list of the variants that will be released for each Phoenix chassis; enjoy!
Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team

I'm not going to speak for the rest of the community, and while the gesture is extremely well recieved by myself, I'd rather see the lost revenue from the colours, and the phoenix money spend on cutting some sort of deal with Harmony gold, and get the rest of the unseen, reseen.

While it would mean taking a hit in finance now, I think that as your expectations have been so wildly exceeded, you know you'd gain in the long term. i'd certainly be a buyer
