would still love to buy these mechs but the current state of the game(performance, gamemodes, balance) does not justify paying that much money on the vague hope that things will get better. If you get the release version to be fun to play you might still get my money, otherwise...

No, we haven't got anything yet other than an acknowledgement of a problem just about anyone who bought a Golden Boy has posted about. The rarity of any sort of acknowledgement about such problems makes it all the more significant when it happens.
I'm not easy to please; this is the one game in my favourite IP that is less than 10 years old, and which currently has a chance of success and further development. Progress is admittedly slower and more sporadic than I'd like, but I'd like to give it the best chance of success, and I'd also like to let PGI know exactly what I want from them in order to be content with supporting them. I'm not happy with a lot of the decisions that they have made with regards to balance and the development directions, but I have stated such in other places. When PGI do provide something positive that I appreciate, I want to give them feedback about it, and put my money where my mouth is. If it sounded like I made an impulsive decision, that is certainly not the case.
I have no doubt that many people also have put off buying PP or have asked for a refund, and are doing their best to 'vote with their wallets' about how they feel about the state of the game and it's development. In that sense, if this 'bonus' offering was financially motivated (and you're right, it probably was) then no, semantically it was not unnecessary. I meant that in the sense that I did not expect to receive it, and it is something over and above what I paid for.
Edit - Just read that they've also commented that they are going to rescale some 'Mechs too.
And I didn't even have to prove my point. thx.

I'm not going to speak for the rest of the community, and while the gesture is extremely well recieved by myself, I'd rather see the lost revenue from the colours, and the phoenix money spend on cutting some sort of deal with Harmony gold, and get the rest of the unseen, reseen.
While it would mean taking a hit in finance now, I think that as your expectations have been so wildly exceeded, you know you'd gain in the long term. i'd certainly be a buyer
I don't think HG is a rational business making rational decisions. They would rather get all their money by suing people than by making legitimate business deals.

or the Ostol or the Ostroc...Shudder..
this post encapulates three of my least favorite mechs from the 3029 tech manual
I actually think FD might do those things some justice. Did you see Bishop Steiner's take on the Ost mechs? His Ostscout is particularly good...

Greetings, MechWarriors!
Project Phoenix has exceeded our wildest expectations in popularity, and we wanted to thank you for your support. As a token of our appreciation, we’re giving every Phoenix Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs!
As it continues its popularity, we’ll add more and more rewards to anyone who purchases, or has already purchased it. So if you already own it, here’s more stuff! And if you’ve just purchased it, thanks for giving people more stuff!
Also, we've added a list of the variants that will be released for each Phoenix chassis; enjoy!
Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team
Is this available on all mech's in the package or all mech's we own? Previous and future purchases?

As long as the unseen don't look like the original designs there is no need to make a deal with Harmony Gold.

All mechs we own, I believe. Will be just like you had purchased the colors separately, instead of bound to the phoenix 'camo pattern'.

I think its pretty remarkable we forked over money at the game's infancy when there was REALLY nothing to show and it was done in good faith to help you guys make a great game.
Its even more remarkable a lot of us are still here and buying MC. I've wondered why we dont get some form of appreciation now and then, usually 'founders' get some degree of benefits throughout the game's life.

I would not put it past HG to sue even if FD did a redesign. In fact, I am surprised they don't sue everyone that has a 'mech' like product. Almost worse than patent trolls...

Need absolute confirmation on if its for ALL mechs or all PHOENIX mechs.
The way the founders work is you have a default color, and the color you change it to, you can always default back to the default color, but that color isn't available for other mechs, so for them to be unlocked, they would have to make the color available to all mechs.

I believe there are three ways you can get the Marauder into the game.
1) Complete redesign so HG can't sue (and if they do, they lose).
2) Update with HGs approval, unless you can get them to sign something, they will sue later (it would be silly not to) and even if they don't, the process will take so long that's not cost effective.
3) Pay whatever exorbitant amount of money HG wants for the license.

As mentioned by tusconspeed6, you are incorrect in this assessment. As a Founder this is something that you can easily verify that you indeed don't have access to the founder color set that came with your Founders mech, so why the misinformation?
