So they released the list with the rest of the variants in the Phoenix promotion, and I noticed something. The Locust / Shadow Hawk / Thunderbolt all have at least one variant with rediscovered LosTech (3050:TRO), but none of the Battlemasters do (3025:TRO).

BLR-1G Reference

Quote

PPC
6 Medium Lasers
SRM-6
18 Single Heatsinks
14 1/2 tons Armor

BLR-1D
[Minus]
  • SRM-6
  • 2 Medium Lasers

[Plus]
  • 6 Single Heatsinks
  • 1 1/2 ton Armor

Looks like it will be straight downgrade Hardpoint wise from the BLR-1G. Not very exciting unless they have some interesting tweak/s in mind for it.

BLR-1S
[Minus]
  • PPC
  • SRM-6
  • 2 Machine Guns
  • 2 Medium Lasers

[Plus]
  • LRM-15
  • LRM-5
  • 2 SRM-2
  • 2 Single Heatsinks

Too bad it is not the BLR-3S.
[Minus]
  • 6 Medium Lasers
  • PPC
  • 2 Machine Guns
  • 1/2 ton Armor

[Plus]
  • 6 Medium Pulse Lasers
  • LRM-20
  • 340 XL Engine
  • CASE
  • 4 Single Heatsinks

The BLR-3M would be probably pointless Hardpoint wise, it should be virtually identical to the BLR-1G. So the Overlord Tier didn't get any rediscovered LosTech upgrades, but I guess that makes the BLR-1G(P) with it's bonuses pretty much the King of it's variants.

The other Lostech Battlemaster available in 3050, besides the 3M, is the 2C with a command console, AMS, and BAP... The 3S was the last Lostech Battlemaster until after the Clan Invasion ends.

Was the 2C actually in production though? Only thing I know of it is from the Sarna BattleTech wiki which seems to indicate they were relics from the Star League era.

you want low tech. high tech means a smaller number of high tech weapons. low tech means a higher number of low tech weapons = more hardpoints.

There is only a quote about Comstar accidentally providing House Kurita with 'several' which they then used in 3039. As those parts were made available in 3028 Kurita could produce them if it wanted by 3039 or after. Either way a AMS, BAP, and command console don't really make it different to other models we already have.

1G looks good, but using its stock loadout might be a little hot, wonder what the heat efficiency is 18 single heatsinks, 6 med lasers, ppc, srm6, 2 machine guns.

The BLR-1D will probably be the AC20 version.

Well... PGI can set the Hardpoints however they like, and sometimes do. Would probably have given 2 Missile Hardpoints for the BLR-3S's LRM-20, and maybe (unlikely) even another where the SRM-6 is just as they did for the AS7-D-DC. So speculating a 3S with 6E 3M (with probably better tube sizes) vs 1S with 4E 4M is not terribly cut and dry.

Yeah I am trying not to speculate too much or get my hopes up in regards to how they will allocate the hardpoints. For example I am hoping the TDR-9SE will have 2 Energy in its right arm plus, 2 missile slots in its left torso. I have a feeling I will get the 2, maybe even 3 energy in the right arm but doubt I will get the 2 missile in the LT since it will already have 3 Energy there.

In any case, it is too hard to even guess how they will arrange hardpoints so comparisons are kind of pointless at this juncture.

Honestly that's a good thing.

It keeps the Cbill cost down so i don't have to pay for another XL Engine I already own.

Well obviously not everyone pays Cbills for it if they bought the Overlord package.
