So this is probably the wrong area to post, but I don't know where else to drop this. Anyways I just did a jump test with my Jenner, and 1 jump jet has the exact performance of 5 jump jets. I ran/jumped off the roof of a building at max speed, and one jump jet landed me in the exact same spot as when I had 5 jump jets equipped, so if you have more than 1 jump jet on, drop down to 1 and enjoy the extra tonnage until they fix this.

5 JJs make you climb faster, 1 is plenty good for gliding. I also only use 1 on my mechs, it never seems worth it to have more.

Distance is the same.
Height is not.
Height is not.

No it doesnt.
I have did some extensive testing with JJs on my Quickdraw 4G which can mount up to 7.
First, the more jump jets you have on your mech the faster you gain height. This is important because it is much harder to target you or react to your jump if you rise into the air much faster.
Second, is the height. 1 JJ would allow me to jump over a building just about the same height at my QD. 7 would allow me to jump over a building about 4 to 5 times the height of my QD.
Another important fact to understand about JJs is that your jump height and distance are directly porportionaly to your mechs run speed at the time of jump. This is why some people don't notice much of a difference between 1 JJ and 3 JJs on a big slow mech like the Highlander. Basically a Highlander running at 48 kph just can't get alot of height and distance because it is slow. However a Quickdraw running at 98 kph can see a major difference between 1 JJ and 3 JJs. This is even more obvious on the Spider variant where you can not only run 150 kph but also mount 8 JJs. Basically if you get up to speed and jump you would be amazed how far and high you actually can go.
