So heres an except from a particulary "Hot" topic of late:

Non-Participation Abuse (From official game rules)
If a player has joined a match, they must have launched the game with intent to play. Players who are not moving, or are otherwise not participating in the spirit of the game, fall under this category. While we all understand the call of nature: Repeated abuse of this behaviour, similarly to 'Mech Suicide and Team Killing, results in an unfair advantage for the enemy teams, and is thus not considered acceptable use. Please keep in mind that idling on your cap point without armour or moving does not constitute a form of tactical "Base Defense".

... I advise everyone to NOT call out these positions, but instead take screenshots and report the hiding 'mechs.

Please look at the rule above. Posted Image

I apologize for my earlier suggestion to call their coordinates, I was unaware of that rule being added (in the last month, I haven't checked for two or so). That said what you are doing is directly against the rules,.

[slightly edited by topic author for clarity]

Now thats an interesting thing to point out. So all pilots that were begged by their team to "just stay alive!" in a conquest map were breaking the rules of the game!!!

I confess I am one of them! I shall try and be more suicidal circumspect in the future PGI. Meanwhile please consider a rewrite of your in game rules as they are patently full of... holes like this one.

I just don't see why after spending my time getting my team ahead on cap points by running my light Mech around doing its job capturing resources I should then be forced by the games current rules to commit suicide when a bit of tactical evasion and stealth can garner me the win I and my fellow light pilots HAVE EARNED.

Clearly the game is evolving and before launch for goodness sake can we have some sense here!

....i suppose there will always be holes, rules that are absolutely perfect are rare. Smaller holes perhaps is a good goal.

I'm pretty sure it's well understood by anyone who applies a few seconds critical thought, that an active participant actively avoiding death to assist in a win through gameplay based objectives (survive to make points in Conquest) is not the same as someone who is "not participating in the spirit of the game"... totally different things.

Even the name: "Non-participation abuse". Doing something that actively furthers your team's ability to win is PARTICIPATION.

I couldn't agree more sir.

So when one is found the logical thing is to revue it and see if the loophole can at least be made smaller yes? Reference back to the thread that sparked this one and you'll readily see a small hole in the game logic like this raises strong emotions and opinions where a five minutes more thought on the game design committee might save some bad feeling and make the game more popular...

Just a thought there PGI just a thought

It's referring to people, whom I have seen, who instead of playing, step into the cap and power down and go afk. Or lights who run into a corner without engaging, then power down and go afk.

It's pretty clear that if you're hiding on purpose, after an engagement, and are still actively piloting/checking on things, you're not breaking the rules.

Again I agree. Its just the rules as currently posted make this action a reportable offence....

CLARIFY THE RULES PGI Clearly they are not WAI. Folks are posting on these forums they intend to report folks for doing just this! Go see here http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__2666980

yes, i agree.

i see a lot of suicide grinding cicadas lately, but they are "participating" by running in and dying.

and yes a rule problem here when someone reports you for saving your mech at match end.

most importantly to PGI

We need a survivors bonus granted only if that mech has done 100 damage and / or capped 2 or more bases or 1 for assault, during R&R saving your mech/letting enemy live was something we all did, now it's become a joke "go die pls so i can have my mech back" type of idiocy.

This sums it up folks.
I have some small sympathy to folks wanting their hard to acquire modules back so they want a game to end faster but please we are typically talking 5 mins here let folks try any strategy they like without them being in breech of an ill defined rule..

So let me get this right. You're the last mech on a conquest and they have all 5 points going and hiding isn't allowed I have to run at the enemy to die instead of powering down and hiding.??????? Ya why should I fall on my sword for Caesar? No point of going out an being killed.

If I have any reason to believe hiding would win the match, I will hide.
If not, then I am among those hoping the match ends soon so that I can get onto the next one.

As always, there's a "spirit" of the rules. Use common sense. If you feel the need to report, then report a player. The devs can take a look and see things like whether or not a player has a pattern of this kind of behavior. You're not going to get banned just because you're playing strategically. This is one area (possibly the only at this point) where I think it's safe to say, "Have faith" when it comes to the powers that be determining an abuser and a player.

You seem to be the ONLY ONE who is confused by this rule. If you are the ONLY ONE confused by the rule, then maybe the problem isn't with the rule.

Well, you could go out and do some damage and earn more C-bills. If you play smart you might even make a kill or two.

Also, in THAT scenario, it's of little consequence anymore. When R&R were implemented it meant the difference in your repair bill.
