Thanks to 3rd person view, I finally understand where my mech's legs are in relation to its torso. It also allows me to enjoy my mech's high-resolution textures, achieved with CryEngine 3.

Yeah it's called centering your legs to your torso with default C button. why do you think you would see anything else but from inside the mech, strapped to a chair with a nurohelm on, protected by all the armour...........justifying arcade view with a floating module is silly.

I have been a huge mechworrior fan since mechworriors 2 , when my friend told me mwo is coming and its gonna be free to play, i chose to buy in because i love mechworriors.

3rd person view is going to bring a unfair advantage to the field, especially if hardcore fans want a simulation like experience, buy adding 3rd person view you are removing from this experience.

I applaud how hard you guys are working, and i must say even though still in beta by far the most glitchy game i ever played but i still love it, and it doesn't bother me one bit.

I must say, i read a lot of posts and id say, try satisfy your paying customers first, because i can say without a doubt, that if you don't, you will lose a great number of fans.

You guys are listening to us for the most part and i can see that you want to make everyone happy, so i'm holding thumbs.

You CAN NOT make everyone happy. Just CAN NOT happen. Won't happen... ever. You were right with "listen to the money". But we don't have their number. They are betting on getting $1 from a million people instead of the $100 from 5,000 people. That might be the bet. There are many of us that missed the Founder tag (I was out of work at the time and couldn't justify it... but bought $100 of MC 2 weeks after Founder closed) have spent other money, but have vowed not to buy any until well after launch if, and only IF, we are happy again with some of the decision making. 3pv was not a good decision for MY view of what MWO should be... and that effects my spending. I'd LOVE Overlord, and more 'mech bays, etc. But I'm not going to do it until I feel it is a better simulator game in my mind.

we do not want it, its a lazy *** way to not make a movement tutorial, it is completely ineffective at helping learn movement (legs are not plainly in view), it was supposed to gain players but it wont because of its implementation. Oh and you guys have a string of documented lies going back about a year. many people are abondoning ship. PUT IN HARDCORE MODES.

First it's badly implemented, I can't see how it will help a new player.
Secondly, I get really bad motion sickness off it.
Thirdly, it lets people look over and around objects.
Fourthly, Why can't we have the Hardcore modes???????

If you really want to help new players, make a proper tutorial!! Then go and do something about the extra grind you introduced. :)

Didn't read 89 pages here and just saw this today but honestly I think an easy fix would be to brighten up the red drone light so it's quite visible from a distance and can be seen hovering over ridges. As much as I would like it to be destroyed I doubt that will happen so with the drone easily seen it gives away your position. It's why I don't like AMS sometimes cause the damn thing shoots when I don't want it too at missiles and says " Hey guys I'm hiding back here! "

Another possibility is to give LRM locks if drone is visible to players.

I am not liking the direction this game is headed. To date I have spent a little over $400 on MWO (been playing since closed beta) Seems like PGI is rewarding new players with 3rd person view instead of the old school guys who have been asking for a new game mode or a game lobby option for months now.

Make the drone give damage to CT if hit. Simple.

I don't know if it's lazy... I'm sure it took a certain amount of work, and alpha testing among the devs before they pawned it off on us.

I still want to know how the heck this happened: About a year ago the developers were saying Community Warfare would be important, and 1st person view as a pillar of the game...A core feature or some such wording.

The 1st person view, once a pillar of the game, is now turned off by default and 3rd person view has been prioritized over Community Warfare.

We're supposedly beta testing, right? How much time do we have left to beta test Community Warfare before the "launch" on Sept. 17th? That's 25 days from now, and I can't even find an explanation of how Community Warfare will work, or how it will correlate to matches that we play.

I think I know what will happen: Community Warfare will be implemented without beta testing, won't it?

Is it just me, or does that sound like an epic fail?

Serious feedback to 3PV.

I don't think you achieved your goal with 3PV by attempting to help new players. In order to keep the fan base happy you had to nerf the 3rd person view to the point that it puts those new players at a disadvantage. I understand trying to push the new players eventually into 1st person view but why penalize them so much that they give up. You also took away the mini map from 3PV which hurts a new player in understanding where the leg and torso directions are on the minimap. If 3PV is really a training mode then let them have the minimap so they can see the relationship to the map and their legs.

If your goal really is to retain the new players then take the nerf away from 3PV and make it useable and then create the seperate queues. I think this would make the veteran players happy and help teach your new players.

Also I think in the future the Community Warfare drops should force 1st person view and not allow the 3pv. That allows players to use 3pv in arcade mode or training mode until they get used to playing in 1pv. Also set up a different reward system between the two modes to make it more desirable to move to 1PV.

I think this option would help retain the new players and keep the vets happy.

This is the dumbest part of this thread. The threat of legal action against PGI is laughable. I am not a lawyer, but spent a lot of time dealing with lawsuits in a prior life. Here is why you sound like an as$hat...
  • There is no precedent for it - I looked around, NO ONE SUCCESSFULLY SUES VIDEO GAME COMPANIES FOR MAKING BAD VIDEO GAMES. You could try to say that you had a contract with PGI and they broke it, but again, there is no precedent that the consumer relationship and these forums constitute a contractual agreement. Goods were paid for, goods were received.
  • No lawyer would take this case - Why? THERE IS NO MONEY IT. Let's say there are 5,000 people that ask for refunds for both Founders and Overlord packages (I doubt that many). That would be less than $200 a person. Let's round to $200 for ease of the maths. $200 X 5000 = $1MIL. 1MIL might seem like a lot to you, but most small lawyer shops don't get out of bed for cases less than $4-6 MIL. More on this in a second...

Not true, at all. It all depends on the country. Gaming companies have been successfully sued several times. Mostly in Europe and Canada. Closing an account has been beaten several times, misleading advertisment like permanent internet connection not beeing mentioned has been beaten very often in Germany and France. Origin has been beaten in Germany, as has Blizzard multiple times for different things. The things are much different over here in the old country. I have gotten my money back from preorders for two MMOs, because they made last minute changes, no question asked.
In most countries on earth lawyers are getting payed by the hour, or by their workload involving the case combined by the value in litigation (which is often bloated up extensivly, like making 50 000 Eur claims for a 15 Eur CD) not by the ammount of money they "get back". Infact such practice, to take a precentage of the money won, is illegal in most countries.

QQ here is the differences ive seen since 3rd person has been added.. zero ,zip, zilch !i kill 3pv mechs the same as 1pv mechs. here is what i have noticed nothing what so ever is done to this game that doesnt get met with a endless stream of whining and crying and threats of quitting. For a bunch of adults (presumably since you have bank accounts and spend money on this game) you sound like spoiled kids. you want balance in game get better, learn tactics adapt!less QQ more PEW PEW!!!! that will solve most of your issues . i dont post much on  here because of the lack of constructive imput from this community ,but i have been here since closed beta and it is an almost constant cry baby party.  that being said get over you egos and sense of consumer entitlement and give some constructive feedback or ****. cuz this  vet from tabletop and mw2 all the way throght mw4 and mwll sees few real problems with this game (minus the lack of the marauder)that given enough patience and time wont get worked out. like i said before LESS QQ MORE PEW PEW!

Way back i signed up as a founder. Well you say you went back on your word to us because of financial concerns concerning new players,

Well here is my word. I will not spend another penny on MWO until hardcore mode is activated and we are given a guarentee it will not be turned off.

I recomend a financial boycot of mwo until they start listening to the community. That seems the be the only thing they will understand.

Ravensshadow

P.s. Also i have seen players sign up and quit matches that has anyone using 3rd person.... something to think about.

I still think it would've been a better choice to add a comprehensive interactive tutorial.
