The flaw with your thinking is that the only people that possess the technology or means to produce it are ComStar and the Clans. The Clans wouldn't produce or use it, because it's not an honorable means of combat. ComStar is far from friendly with any of the playable factions, so there's no way in Hell they'd allow any of them to have it. In fact, if someone outside of C* did get their hands on it, C* would go to extreme lengths to recover/destroy it and blame it on someone else (see the "Death Commandoes" raid on NAIS).

Obviously, you don't want to use bright purple as a scout, but if using whites/greys on a winter map will be more effective, I'd love that, and the ability to easily change my paint.
The problem with camo, and from what I have seen on the video's that were posted on You Tube (Official Dev video's, nothing illegal), is that when you see a Mech it is painted with a bid red square round it so Camo paint would be useless.
I don't know if there's a reason for the big red square, maybe it only does that when the Mech has been spotted by a scout or something.

We can expect those to be expensive, rare, and have a rather limited loadout because of how heat works in this game.
Given that both systems either cause tremendous heat or prevent venting of said heat, activating both at the same time, for expended periods, would mean virtually packing the entire interior of said specialized mechs full of heatsinks, and then you can still be found by footsteps, being hit by random fire, or magneto-vision.
So while I do not expect to see this anytime soon (It's just to good to pass up long term, if they run out of other cool stuff), if it makes an entry, it will be a classic case of overspecialization.
Also, keep in mind those systems aren't perfect.
In the TT rules, the LPS just makes the mech tremendously harder to hit.
It's not completely invisible.

You're looking for flaws in source material, certainly. That was the only reference I gave and I don't remember imposing my opinion on others because of it. The source material is very good guidance and shows the dormant potential that 'certain' people seem reluctant to fully realize, much less unleash. The time to play it safe has passed. For BT and its fans it has become all or nothing. Put your best foot forward or step back ... that's not really a choice, so I suggest you start to understand what is going on behind the curtain. See my quote of Russ Bullock a page before and start to understand the gravity of the situation. Thank you very much.

The tabletop is still alive and well, MegaMek allows for a nice, free, way to play the tabletop on your computer. Yes, it isn't as flashy as MWO or MWT will be; it's still an option that isn't likely to go away.
It is my opinion that if MWO honors the canon and sticks to what you deride as safe, they will earn the respect of the hardcore players, and they, in turn, will encourage others to try it out.
