I am disappointed with PGI for breaking its promise to the community. I don’t trust them to address the concerns of players in the future – players who are in an excellent position to offer suggestions for improvements given the number of hours they’ve logged in game.
Yes, I am upset about the unfair tactical advantages of 3pv but I don’t want to talk about that. The issue here is that PGI hasn’t listened to the fans and has, in fact, actively worked against them.
Further, I’m disappointed that 3PV doesn’t do anything to address the core problems with the game. People will argue as to what those are – but the lack of 3pv was categorically not one of them. The fundamental mechanics of MWO are (generally) sound and it looks damn good. Personally, I think the game just boring.
So the game’s boring. As others have observed, we need new gamemodes (dropship down, asymmetric assault), addition of vehicles and turrets, perhaps dynamic drops with objectives drawn at random from a list of pre-defined little missions (Eg – capture the comm station, escort the high value individual out of the area). I feel that the game needs immersion. And, instead of working on issues of immersion, instead we’ve been given a 3PV feature, which is both poorly implemented and we didn’t even want.
To conclude, I don’t feel that PGI have listened to the community’s wishes, and don’t trust them to do so in the future. There are many things that could be done to improve the game, but instead they’ve applied dev resources to, against the community’s wishes, deliver a feature that we neither need nor want. I played 2 matches last night and was BORED. I won’t be playing or paying until PGI gets their priorities straight and listen to the fans.
I’m a hardcore lurker and thought I’d make my first contribution on this issue.
