If this is Russ' stance, then this further means they don't intend to address this issue for the entire week. And if that's the case, I'm done playing with MW:O for the entire week, because this is Russ' way of politely telling us our opinions don't matter as far as I feel on the matter. I also posted a link to this thread in response to his on Twitter. I invite Russ, Bryan, and anyone else from PGI to respond to this. Again, I'm trying to keep this thread as civil as possible so this can be discussed in a sane reasonable manner.

It's not a bad stance, he could have put it a little more politely but all said and done it's better to test it rather than dismiss it out of hand.

That really depends on what are you "testing".

I recall that this topic title is "THE PROBLEM ISN'T 3PV", so unless you are testing if you can break promises to your fan base[1] and get away with it, that is a very bad stance.

It feels like he´s saying: "ok, let´s see how long can these fan-B complain before they settle for what I´m giving them, after all this is the only Battletech game they will get anyway", and in that he´s counting on people staying for their love for the franchise, because many clearly don´t love PGI. This may prove a mistake, if the forums quiet down because people just left instead of settling.

[1] with no forewarning or explanation too... it´s not like they were discussing the separate queues for the last weeks and trying to convince people that they are bad (and the will be bad if the player base is too low). They just made it happen and then released patch notes to inform us that their promises are worth nothing.

EDIT: it seems f-a-n-b-o-y is a bad word now. I´m fan-B an a proud one at that. Been supporting his franchise in all it´s incarnations for as long as I can remember

well, we are the Customers, we can decide not to give Money and still play. But they wont care because they are trying to win new customer groups. Kind of good, kind of bad for the other group. I wish they wouldnt have called it hardcore and instead orginal mode, or master mode or veteran mode.

I just tried playing a match in 3d. I won't argue it can let you monitor things better than in a cockpit...while stationary.

In combat, it is jerky, facks with your aim, and starts giving me SOME of the discomfort so many of you claimed from jump jet shakes. Frankly it doesn't give you much more than you get from seismic.

Will it be a major danger in "competitive play?" No, particularly since competitive play in MWO is a misnomer to begin with. Should it be relegated to it's own queue? Well PGI said it would, so probably.

I also love that the shortcut is "F4." Seriously, they just trolled all of us, and are laughing with every new Phoenix subscriber and camo pattern sale.

3PV has far more to it than that. Bear in mind you can instantly switch between the two modes, so you find targets, switch mode THEN aim. It really benefits scouts a huge amount more than other units, and it is FAR more useful than seismic's binary "there is a target" data.

It's really awesome to be able to tell nearly everything about a target from behind cover, as far as you can see. If you cannot appreciate the data it provides, you are simply a poor player.

I agree with the OP - I do not like the direction the dev's are taking this game.

I just don't even want to play at all right now. I miss MWO. What we have now isn't it. I don't want to use 3PV ever, especially if I'm forced to because the competition is exploiting it. I felt the same about poptarts and 4- or 6-PPC Stalkers. It makes for unfun. I hope it isn't already too late for them to fix this. I was trying to justify the purchase of the Phoenix pkg but now I can't. I used to love this game and spent all of my free time (and what cash I could afford) playing it. I've stopped recommending MWO to people because I don't like it anymore. Please, PGI, make it so I can have fun blowing up big, stompy robots again.

I am disappointed with PGI for breaking its promise to the community. I don’t trust them to address the concerns of players in the future – players who are in an excellent position to offer suggestions for improvements given the number of hours they’ve logged in game.

Yes, I am upset about the unfair tactical advantages of 3pv but I don’t want to talk about that. The issue here is that PGI hasn’t listened to the fans and has, in fact, actively worked against them.

Further, I’m disappointed that 3PV doesn’t do anything to address the core problems with the game. People will argue as to what those are – but the lack of 3pv was categorically not one of them. The fundamental mechanics of MWO are (generally) sound and it looks damn good. Personally, I think the game just boring.

So the game’s boring. As others have observed, we need new gamemodes (dropship down, asymmetric assault), addition of vehicles and turrets, perhaps dynamic drops with objectives drawn at random from a list of pre-defined little missions (Eg – capture the comm station, escort the high value individual out of the area). I feel that the game needs immersion. And, instead of working on issues of immersion, instead we’ve been given a 3PV feature, which is both poorly implemented and we didn’t even want.

To conclude, I don’t feel that PGI have listened to the community’s wishes, and don’t trust them to do so in the future. There are many things that could be done to improve the game, but instead they’ve applied dev resources to, against the community’s wishes, deliver a feature that we neither need nor want. I played 2 matches last night and was BORED. I won’t be playing or paying until PGI gets their priorities straight and listen to the fans.

I’m a hardcore lurker and thought I’d make my first contribution on this issue.

I have pretty much quit posting as it's a complete waste of time but I couldn't let this idiotic narrow minded fool have the final say.
