my issues with that are pretty much what gammadin said, that and the formal dress, though i can get used to it.

Having someone who saw the minnesota tribe when he was a kid and was inspired by it would be about as close as you could get to clan affiliated, though if you can rp a reason well enough thom will let you get away with just about anything short of murdering major characters. (that requires a donation of cookies and high proof whiskey.)

I hate double posting, but i also hate editing when a bunch of other people are reading this.

Basically redo your deep background, and you stand a decent chance of getting in.

On another note, realize that mech is going to be insanely expensive to get parts for, that design went extinct before the foundation of the star league, it is like the time i wanted to use a hector. Hectors were one of the first mechs to go extinct, they never even existed as modern tech mechs. There were only primitive versions. therefore, it was not physically possible even if you could afford to buy the lyran commonwealth to find parts for a tech II (modern tech) version of the hector without trying to build new ones, because it never existed in the first place.

I was aware the Gladiator had several IS Standard versions, and as far as I knew the dual LRM10 version had survived into the Succession Wars in limited numbers, as well as some of the Primitives surviving into the same era in various states of disrepair. And its not exactly a whole and perfect mech, as can be shown by the widely varied from original weapons loadout. The origin for the AC/5, it would be a Shadow Hawk's gun mount salvaged and strapped onto the arm as opposed to a designed for the mech part. Like a FrankenMech, but only really internally so, as the engine isn't exactly a hard one to find and neither is more common T&T or Communication systems.
EDIT:Also a sidenote, there were at least a couple dozen left, as a 3060s version was based off the custom upgraded mech of a mercenary (I think commander...?) trooper's, so there was still a few around.
And as for seeing the Minnesota Tribe as kid, they showed up in 2864, so there's no way that's possible. And I more intended that part as making a descendant of Clansmen as un-Clanlike as possible by totally warping the background and his knowledge of history. Can be changed if it needs to be though.
Ok, edited it to get rid of the Wolverine part, and explain why he's still bothering to lug the Gladiator around to Solaris instead of "trading up" to a newer mech.

according to sarna, the 1R went 100% extinct during the reunification war. but meh, 100% extinct just means someone left some mech somewhere and it was salvageable. Look at rogue in war orphans, the heliopolis is an extinct design as well.

Hey now. A completely buried in a landslide extinct mech is totally operable and plausible for one simple reason. Space Magic.

It's about fun right?

As I understood it, several mint condition 3Rs were left around and just never used or relegated to militia duties. Whereas the 1R's were broken down into various sub-assemblies as they were never re-repaired.

Hey, it took Dirk years to get it operable! I put in the work for that!
Just, y'know. Offscreen in narrative time. 'Cos I'm a douche like that. No one complained at the time xD

i did. he said realistic mechs, and i objected to the use of extinct mechs, though not very strenuously due to the fact that i was completely new to this.

If it's going to bother you that much Dal, I can just use a battered old Shadow Hawk instead. XD
