pensions are paid out over a lifetime, we are talking like 50 years for him to get all his money. i think that might as well be forever in rp time.

Bear in mind that one C-bill is worth roughly $10. So two million C-bills is worth about $20,000,000. That's a lot of Big Macs.

Stuff like bread is usually purchased with one of the other currencies. On Solaris L-Bills (Lyran currency) is often used. Solaris also prints its own local currency which unlike the "house" dollars actually has a good conversion rate when you trade Cbills for it. But its useless off world.

Edit: Lyran money is S-bills, Liao money is L-bills. My bad.

That's still a s**t ton of money, and the Davion government might just throw a ditch into your payments just to ef with you. And I think that the Fed Suns are currently going through an economic crisis because of the 4th war. Despite their great gains, Hanse almost broke his nation doing it.

It's up to 10 C-bills? I've been going off the template in the MechWarrior 2 RPG where it was equivalent to $5.00

Good looking out Gamma, I didn't know about Solaris having it's own cash, but that does make sense with the number of tourist flocking there...

Yep House bills go by the first letter of their surname for the most part, but they also have other names.
Kurita = Ryu, FedSuns = Pound, (is that why so many of you folks from the UK like them?) Liao = Yuan, Marik = Eagle, and Steiner = Kroner.

Yeah, no.

Added up all the credits. 2mill plus the cash from the S.Hawk and Kintaro would give roughly (give or take) 11,521,289cbills. Now I know the holiday season is right around the corner, but I'm no Santa Claus. And that's not happening, red just isn't my color.

I know you don't care for red, but have you tried the outfit in lace yet? I think you have the figure for it boss.

Also, Nomad. Good post brother. I'm super pumped that our story line is starting to roll out

i actually forgot the conversion rates and did a one to one ratio. so divide by 5. 400k i also use the 5 to 1 rule usually.

on a side note, i am going to cut the 100k 'bob' gave me by half, that should make it more 'realistic.'

Also remember that when/if davoke gets in, there is the extra cash from the tourney win to worry about. But in addition his shadow hawk will likely need serious repairs, as even if i am going to lose, it will be anything but one sided.

It looks like the folks at Sarna have adjusted for inflation-- the USD isn't worth as much as it was twenty years ago. :o

:)

Name: Rei Tsuji
Call sign: Stage Name: The Obsidian Horror
Date of Birth/Age: October 2nd, 3005 -- 25 years old
Current Mech: PXH-1 Phoenix Hawk
House Affiliation: Solaris Native, nominally affiliated with the Draconis Combine

Height: 168 cm
Weight: 60 kg
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown, often wears dark green non-corrective contact lenses

Physical Description:

Mixed Asian/Indian heritage. Her hair is shaved two to three inches off her temples, over the ears and down to the base of her skull, with the rest kept long, often in a flat plait that extends down to her shoulder blades. Medium build, exercises enough to keep up appearances.

Dresses with an eye towards aesthetics and the cameras. From designer black and green cooling vests to hindi/japanese inspired formal wear, Rei is not above spending money if she thinks it will improve her image with the Solaris media.

Open Background:

Born to a traditionalist family on the outskirts of the Kobe district of Solaris City, Reiko was a restless child who spent more time in the mead halls of Xolara than her parents would have liked. She would eventually drop the last syllable of her first name in favor of the more English sounding 'Rei'. A life long fan of the games, she switched to a MechWarrior track after spending a year as a journalism major at a local school. Rei secured an internship with a small stable through a University program and spent four years learning the trade in the Solaris "minor leagues".

Rei completed her internship two years ago and has since gone independent. An able fighter, her greatest strength has been her ability to network, trading contacts and favors throughout the lower tiers of the Solaris gaming system. She has so far avoided moving into the "big leagues", preferring the give and take of the smaller arenas to the cut-throat competition found in the high end tournaments.

Deep Background:

Rei's PXH-1 is equipped with a factory original Tru-Trak targeting computer. The system is only semi-functional, but it still allows Rei to line up shots more quickly than she could with the more "modern" systems that have come to replace it. She has had to call in major favors twice in order to have the computer serviced-- although she does not advertise it, there are those involved with the games that know her successes so far have not been entirely due to talent.

Rei does not own her BattleMech. Her old stable holds the title, and Rei leases the machine on a month to month basis. Rei's old stable has fallen on hard times-- no longer able to sponsor fighters directly, they subsist by renting their BattleMechs out to their former members.

But you’re still fighting like it’s a war, measuring ground given and taken, assets secured, s*** like that. . .it’s about image. . .a deadly dance in the mind’s of the fans. And you’re not part of that. Is this making sense?"

Also, I think that was the first and last time that I'm ever gonna to write mass combat. There's only so many times that you can write "____ shot him with this. The missiles erupted in a intense blossomed of orange red death."

I found a useful trick was to try to ignore most of the enemy mechs. If your guy can't see them, don't describe their death. If he's not paying attention mention the ejection or something, but don't go into detail. Just focus on your dude's window viewport :)
Haven't read the post that prompted your comment yet though, so I've no idea how helpful that is or not. The wireless is pretty naff where I am due to big thick walls, so when it's a little slow/someone is torrenting/etc it goes real slow and that thread hasn't loaded yet. Will get on it soon.

Props does tend to get used on occasion, but mad props seems to have died out round the UK/Ireland.
