May be hard for you guys at PGI/IGP to believe, but some people keep their word. In the original thread you guys made asking for feedback about the inclusion of 3PV, I said I wouldn't support or play the game if you added it.

Here's my "feedback" for you.

It was about a month ago when my good friend Atomicoxen told me about a game called Mech Warrior Online. He told me it was based on a series of games that he played back in the day. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first. It looked like just another shooter and generally speaking I don't really like shooters. However, I gave it a shot. A couple matches into it I was very frustrated with little Idea of what was going on. Throwing my monitor out the window was an idea, but luckily Atomic was there to guide me through all of the undocumented mechanics of the game.

Over the last month I have grown to love what mech warrior represents. It is a tactical simulation shooter that doesn't revolve around twitch reflexes. The unlimited customization is simply amazing. I have put well over 100 dollars into this game (Misery, Dragon Slayer, Muromets), and fully planned to preorder the phoneix package. The only caveat was that this game make some progress toward earning more of my money.

Lets be real, 100 dollars is far more than the value of any game available right now. So I figured before getting too excited about this game, I should see what the future held. Without getting into too much detail (because I think we all know the issues already), PGI is doing a disservice to what could be an all time great game.

Of course I will continue to play MWO as i love what the game represents, but PGI will not get another dollar from me until I feel like the game is taking a direction more congruent with the wishes of their community.

For the record: If PGI gets their act together, both me and my wallet will come back.

I saw this same thing happen with Bioware's Starwars MMO. They delivered a crappy, rushed product and then went crazy with deleting threads and trying to hide criticisms. They insulted their fanbase and everyone quit.

Bioware switched the game to an F2P model, fixed the majority of the bugs (or so I'm told), and now I hear they have around 2 million players. I can't really confirm because I havent played it, but thats the story I'm hoping I get to tell about MWO in the near future.

You're screwing up right now PGI, but I'll keep watching the game and if you get your head's out of your collective rectums, I'll be right back to have a good time again.

And just so I keep all my disappointment in one place, here's another post I made on the subject.

PGI,

You've had to issue a public apology for this. In that "apology" you said that you knew it would be contentious but felt it was necessary for new players. Despite this stated design goal of helping new players, you've given 3pv a massive "come kill me" blinky red light. New players might not realize that blinky red light is the drone you start them off in by default. So now new players are going to get murdered even faster because we know where they are! New players will also get their teammates killed by following us with the "come kill us" drone floating around.

This makes sense to you? This is your way of helping new players to the game? You realize we are going to TK idiots keeping those "come kill us" drones flying around the group, right? Getting new players murdered easier by both the enemy and the friendly squads. Good move!

If you knew it would cause "contention" amongst your hardcore fan base and your primary objective in ignoring us was to help new players, then why didn't you limit 3PV to the training grounds where it belongs? Incorporate it in to your upcoming tutorials within the training ground. You are working on tutorials to help new players right?

I've spent around 300 dollars on this game in less than a year playing it. Hardcore Mechwarrior/Battletech fans like myself are your revenue source. Guess what? You're not getting another dollar out of me until this situation is rectified. This is not a threat, this is a sad and depressed statement of fact. I love this game and want it to succeed, but it certainly feels as if you are actively trying to run this game into the ground.

Move 3PV to Training Grounds ONLY!

Disappointed...

Good luck on your refunds, hopefully this will be a big 'teachable moment' for PGI, but the odds are against it, it was essentially the same story in the transition from closed to open beta just with different feature sets. Then, once more for coolant flush/consumables. And now again. I'd laugh if I wasn't disappointed at the whole mess.

Yeah Monky, I know where you're coming from. I actually copied the URL out of your signature to put it in mine. I kind of chuckled at the little banner before but I never thought about using it. Then this little fiasco came about and I now understand where you're coming from.

Coolant flush was kind of a kick in the gonads, but I let it slide. The various screw ups in weapon balancing (lrmpacolypse 2,3,4,etc...) were explained away thinking, "Well maybe they're trying to test a specific weapon group and so to encourage people to use SRMs, PPCs, LRMs, etc, they're just buffing the hell out of them and nerfing everything else." If I wanted to make my players test a specific system thats not a bad way to do it. I was too optimistic.

Apparently never saw a Raven 3L, Spider, or Jenner. MWO has been all about twitch gaming since CB. Did you get your Sarah's Jenner yet?

Little update here... it's been 24 hours with no response from PGI to my refund request. Unfortunately I'm out of the country right now so I can't reasonably get on the telephone with them. However, I will continue to update this thread with the progress on the return of the $120.00 USD.

NFL season starts in two weeks so,I think I'll spend that money in the strip club while watching the game. Some dancer probably needs the cash to buy books for some college classes she's taking. I imagine it will be put to better use there than in PGI's hands.

Update: PGI responded to my refund request today and it has been sent to processing. Comically, I was advised to read Russ Bullock's apology before making a final decision. Already read it. It has been weighed, judged, and found wanting.

Update, my refund has been processed.

Unfortunately, I am not part of the target demographic for Mechwarrior Online.

I am just a pathetic member of the vocal minority.

Glad I now know my place.
