I tinkered around and asked myself if I could build a realy high alpha build with current build restrictions. I found that using the Jagermech JM6-S with endo steel and 130XL engine I could barely squeeze in 2 gauss rifles and 2 ppcs. Tested it out and found it had spectacular Alpha damage ability. Blow up arms mechs etc in a single shot. Most opponents didn't get how effective 50 dmg Alpha can be and how fun it is to blow arms B)
I suppose firebrand with both gauss and ppc mounted in the arms would be even stronger.

I played in the mech hanger with this build today. I didn't have an engine small enough or I would have gone on a drop and harvested some tears with it.

Works well until you get a half way decent Jenner or Spider pilot get up close and personal. Sure you MIGHT get a lucky alpha in on him but if he is half way decent he will stick to your six and your toast.

This is a strictly fire support build. I wouldn't DOD anything smaller than a stalker in this build.

You can manage it with like an XL225, 4 tons of ammo and 7.5 tons of armour on an Ilya Muromets.

I will now try this on my 3D :<

-Edit-
I have come to the conclusion that this mech is totally hilarious to drive.

I even manage to kill someone so hard that the message system said I killed him twice.

This is a crazy alpha build.

I did it in a Phract too.  Alpine first drop, nothing special.  RC night second drop, many assists and high score.  Frozen City on the third drop was a trip.  I alpha killed a Quickdraw and red centered every mech I shot at.  Got mad assists.

I didn't have the money for a 225 and had to settle for a 210 I had.  Super slow and low ammo, but worth the attempt.  When I get a 225 I am gonna try this out serious.  This was a trippy setup and I giggled with every shot.

Well, here it is...Crackaphract.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ede00c41164d150

It is made out of glass and has all kinds of heat and ammo issues, but with some finesse and a good team she will hold together long enough to turn the tide of battle and give you some kills. You will giggle all the way to meltdown.

I use this setup with a 225 XL. bit less armor and speed but twice the ammo. 20 alpha shots should hurt quite a bit in the long run, then you have to rely on the PPC's for the rest of the game if you are still alive. You can go with one less ton of ammo for a JJ, but that leaves you with 15 alpha's only.

(also ,you loaded yours with AC/20 ammo.)

That build works better on a Devastator. That I would use 2 and 2 on without thinking twice.

Because of the way I play, I dislike the glass factor of it, but playing it smart it is a lot of fun.

I ran a 2xGauss 2xPPC build on my Ilya for a couple of weeks. It's a fun build, but overall not that effective for me. It was funny, though. One time on Frozen City Night, I perch myself a little ways back in the city and kept my aim at the pocket between the mountain and the spaceship. A completely fresh Cicada popped up to take a look and I one-shotted him. I had a good laugh over that.

Just too much to sacrifice to fit it all in a heavy.

When we get an assault that can do it, GG. Although, I bet PGI doesn't give us that assault mech for a very, very, very long time.

That's 30 tons heavier than the Cataphract. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 Gauss & 4 ER PPCs on that thing.

Similarly, if the Annihilator were added, I'd imagine that most people would load that up with either 4 Gauss (could run on Single Heat Sinks) or 3 Gauss & 3 PPCs. How's a 75 point Alpha strike you?
