Well,
I've just played a match where I got 538 dmg, but i'm certain that I fired like 10 alphas from my jenner (that's at most 300 dmg).

How is damage calculated?

Or did I count bad my number of alphas?

Ammo explosions can add extra damage and inflate your damage numbers at the end of a match. You probably got a few lucky shots that critted some ammo.

Kill any missile boats or ammo heavy mechs?

well, I killed a jagger and backstabed an atlas, so that could be...

I didn't know that ammo destruction would add damage to my score, thanks for letting me know.

Yup, this is why de-legging and arming mechs is still so good. With premium time, and a hero mech (usually my firebrand or yen-lo-wang) I can average around 200,000 C-Bills a match if i keep focusing my fire on the legs first, and then the highest damage arm. 250,000 with a good win.

I almost always go for Rear-ST and then to core (if not dead) on "slow" mechs.
On faster mechs, I go for the legs.

Added bonus... even though Salvage CB has been nerfed. Legged or Head Shot mechs are worth more than CT Core.

Yup - that's why, if I come across a disconnected 'Mech, I always aim for the head. WAAAY more salvage if you leave the engine and other items intact.
