I would like to see a feature where a specifiic target selection would be possible through a key combination (additional to the existing cycling of targets with R key). For example, pressing Shift + D would switch target to enemy mech D.
This of course should apply only to enemy mechs that could be normally targeted by pressing R repeatedly.

I like that idea. Squad commander says target and engage Foxtrot. But where the eff is Foxtrot? I have 6-8 targets currently available to cycle through to find it. =/
so with this I press Shift-F and pop, there it is.
so with this I press Shift-F and pop, there it is.

Exactly. With the increase of mechs in 12vs12 there is quite often a cluster of targets in front of the radar and reaction speed is really important.

This would fit Battletech lore. Many descriptions talk of the targeting system applying differing markers to each detected bogey, typically by using different colors and different polyhedral shapes (i.e., target one is marked by a blue pyramidal shape on the augmented map, target two by a green cube, three by a red dodecahedron, etc.).
