I purchased the Overlord Phoenix package. This "addon" seems ill-timed as we have not received the original goods yet. No offense, but my faith only goes so far. Sitting on two promised, but not yet delivered content packages is a bit too much risk for me.
I think I will hold off until we receive the content from the Phoenix Package and I can get a good sense of what my original $80 got me...
Exactly. So...they already have literally millions from the community off of a beta, it's no secret that the cash raked in has overly exceeded their original projection. With X amount of registered users, if they only get the lowest tier MC purchase @ $6.95 on average monthly from 30% of the base they have made a killing. I looked over the cash cow process of map/mech creation, understandably it's easy for an outsider to say these things are easy, and they do take a lot of work, but claiming 6 digits a pop is preposterous. F2P/P2W has become the new normal on the PC, it's a financial boon for game developers and if there are customers, that means we should end up with a better game. Aside from all the nitpickers, MWO now is way better than MWO 6 months ago, and any BT/Mecha sim fan should appreciate the work, I'd say our money is being spent as promised, but the marketing strategy is getting a little on the greedy side. They asked us to pay for the Phoenix pack up front to see the financial response and have a feasible incentive to reallocate manpower on that segment. Understandable. They delay the release of said goods until CW and UI 2.0 were in place (hopefully) and the combined goodness of it all rewards the faithful and has us all in a crackhead euphoric state, making the gaming news headlines. Understandable. They see the cry for refunds or whatever, and
try to repeat the hustle on the faithful to make up and exceed any losses for undelivered content . No, that's not understandable. A wetnose kid spendin his mom's money? Maybe. A diehard fan who purchased every premium and standard color, every cockpit item without hesitation? Most definitely. A player who would rather stay home and figure out mplas damage numbers on the left thumb of an Atlas instead of taking a shower and giving his girlfriend some attention instead? If he has $50 to his name left, PGI just got $30 of it. I already gave into the hype and gave up $80 because I love this game, trying to mack me for another $30 by overlapping the hustle, I mean, did you guys plan on wearing a rubber first man?!?! I'll wait.
