Since I've got the phoenix pack then I'll have a shadowhawk for a 55 ton option, I don't see enough in the sabre mechs or variants to say "these are the ones you should be getting".

My concern with all these mechs is they aren't even the best variants they could have chosen for either phoenix or sabre packs. If they are only doing three variants per chassis they should have chosen the ones that are as different as possible.

I'd also have like to see another heavy done as an option

I agree, the three med mechs are not that different to each other.

They might offer a third option in october with a heavy
I keep my money for now.

Seriously, most people like the mechs. it's the management that is drawing people's ire. I'm sure that you knew that already though. Posts like that one fan the flames and egg people on. Which is why people hold PGI in such low regard.

I know that most people like the mechs, but the unfortunate situation is that there are some that will take any and all reasons that they can to fan the flames. In the same vein they will continue to hold PGI in low regard because their particular issue/concern etc hasn't been addressed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not admonishing folks for having an opinion or for voicing it. It's just the manner in which it has been done of late has been increasingly on the toxic side and quite far from anything approaching constructive or helpful. In the end as Alfred the Butler once stated "Some people just want to watch the world burn." (or forums in this case).

Again the new artwork/redesigns of the mechs look amazing...well done. I am not very happy about having to pay for more mechs but I also understand that PGI is a business and needs to make money so survive (thus why I bought the $80 phoenix pack), however, while we are waiting on our mechs it would be nice to see a new mappack release for free with as many new maps as you can pack in to the thing. Either that or give us a map editor so that the commuity can submit some maps to staff at PGI for approval prior to implementation. It has been shown before that the Mechwarrior community is capable of some impressive feats and it would would also do PGI well to have some 'unpaid' staff working for them.

The new designs look intimidating, sure. The Griffin is a work of art.

But I think the hardpoints would be too much of a drawback, and with no other incentives in the add-on package I see no real reason to purchase it. We also have too many mediums now, though I'm sure they'll simply release more of the other weight classes afterwards to balance it out.
