The only thing that had me buy this is the sense that I'm gonna look back one day and be glad I did. The game has really been working to undermine my confidence lately, but I've been here a year and a half, and by jove I'll be here another year and a half at least. I love Battletech/Mechwarrior too much to bail out when there aren't any alternatives.

First: Sense 3PV is clearly not going anywhere, but if they made it so that if you can't see any one in 1PV then you can't see them in 3PV. This will make every one happy as it removes the periscopeing and I don't think any one would have a problem if they allowed 3PV to have the mini map and all that stuff you would normally have in 1PV as they are now balanced.

Second: Make sure that the new UI2.0 actually has some kind of drop limiter like drop weight limits or something to stop the lop sided matches where one team is nearly all Assaults vs a light weight team. If PGI does these two things, I will then spend money, other wise, no deal.

Pass. I'll repost what I was mentioning on our own forums:

-I've already got the Shadowhawk from the Overlord package which is also a 55 ton JJ mech
-Neither new mech will even be available until December for Sabre owners, March for everyone.
-Medium mechs are very niche right now, and I haven't piloted medium mechs regularly since closed beta.
-The canonical Griffin would have two hard points total as it only comes with a PPC and LRM-10, that will be interesting to see how that plays out
-Other than the paint job, there's no modeling differences between the Sabre and C-Bill mechs that I can see, unlike the original 4 Phoenix mechs.
-Don't really need the bonuses at this point. I can always hop in a Founders, Hero, or Overload mech I have if I do.

tbh, i am not sure if it is smart form me to answer you on this, this thread isn't abotu that topic and probably should not be. However, in the very beginning, you can see and hear him telling his guys where they are going. You can see enemey mechs walking bewteen the buildings, with no red triangle above them. The triangles appear, once oyu cann see those enemys from your cockpit.
Sure, one can argue, they might be under ECM, but then skip to about 1 minute into the video.
He can see the catapult, but it is not marked with a triangle, so actually no one has line of sight to it, or it is ECM guarded. As soon as he steps up the ridge, the triangle appears and he can lock it.
That's a situation where he got a HUGE advantage with 3pv. He was able to look over the ridge without getting shot. If you'd do the exact same thing in 1pv you'd die and peope would yell at you for being stupid and doing a facecheck without a scout - and they'd be right.

So there it is, a HUGE advantage gained through 3pv - this is the reason why people didn't want it or wanted a 1pv only queue and this is why people are raging now.

This Saber Reinforcement thing only makes me want a Project Phoenix refund even more. Again you buy something and they change it on you after you already spent the money. So now if I want the complete Project Phoenix set I have to spend an additional $30.00 to get the new additions. As I am no longer giving PGI any more money I am stuck with the choice of have an incomplete set of Project Phoenix mechs or canceling my Project Phoenix preorder altogether. What to do...

This should make up for all the lost revenue from the refunds they had to give. I got a standard form letter for my refund so I guess the number is pretty high.

seeing so many positive responses in this thread ... it just kinda shows that for many players, PGI can completely F-UP and fail on W, X, Y and Z, but despite all the problems in the game, people will still buy shiny new mechs. They might as well never fix the game and just keep pumping out new mechs.

3pv is no real issue and balance is better than ever before...
