Having a look at the new graphics today for the Phoenix pack to see the addition I noticed that all the Hero Mech variants now have a (P) after their names. When checking the Mech readouts that come out after clicking the Mechs up the top it now shows that the other variants will now include a non (P) version of the Mech. We were originally sold on the promise that this was a unique variant and only purchased through the pack. Now it seems to have changed to something similar to that of the (C) champion variants.

Has anyone else noticed this prior to today? I mean I do keep an eye on the pack to see how many people are purchasing it currently and find it strange that I only just noticed it.

It's unique like the founders mechs. So you can buy the same thing for cbills, but the phoenix mechs have different paint jobs and a boost of some sort.

It's been well known. They are physically unique, not unique in loadout. Much akin to the Founder's mechs. The neat thing is we get them long before they're released in public (we had the 4G Hunchback and Jenner D founders for a month and a half before anyone else could get them).

They have hero-like bonuses, but they were never called heroes. In fact each of those mechs will have their own unique hero variants after their public cbill releases.

Are Project mechs a good value compared to the founders package? Yes.

$120 Founders package. 4 mechs, 4 bays, +25% Earned. 1 camo. $30 a mech.
$110 Phoenix/Sabre Package. 18 mechs, 18 bays, 6 mechs earn + 30% CBill and +10% Loyalty, and at least one camo. $6.11 a mech.

FYI: There will be no operational difference between a Phoenix mech and its CBill equivalent.

I must or read it differently. I was under the impression that the Phoenix variant was going to be a unique load out like all Hero Mechs, with the only chance to pick them up was purchasing the pack.

I believe that was the marketing at work. I thought that at first too.

They were NEVER referred to as hero mechs.

Extra geometry and some permanent earnings bonuses.

Hey there hippy, how yah doing bro?

The pheonix mechs have custom geometry (shoulder pads) much like the founders catapult having a beak nose..

That and custom camo, plus meta bonuses

Hardpoints will be the same as c-bill versions

$40 for 4 Founder mechs and 4 mech bays, actually, you forgot 20k MC.

In my opinion, PGI should eventually unify bonuses across all lines and upgrade both Founders and Hero mechs to 30% C-Bill, 10% loyalty bonus. It would be a nice gesture from them to both Founders and people who bought Hero mechs before Phoenix package.

It's Unique Geometry. It's the same as having the Catapult have the nose cone on the Founders version and the standard version just has a flat nose.

But like people said, it's basicially the same as having an HBK-4G(F) and an HBK-4G. Same mech except the founders version has a unique paint scheme and gives 25% more C-Bill.

OP,

I too thought that the variants were unique until a friend told me today that they weren't. It's still a good deal for sure, but I do have to say it was a bit deflating. I did go back and reread the page and it definitely does not say unique variant. I think my brain wanted it to say that, so that's what I read.

I never thought they were heroes, just thought they had unique variants similar to heroes. Oh well, game on!

Don't forget 3 universal paint onlocks and some dashboard dangles that will also help with Loyalty in any mech in the phoenix package.

Edit: And apparently founders got 20,000

A couple questions , if somebody could kindly answer. The "p" versions of the Phoenix package; Why are they not listed as Hero mechs? They earn bonus points like Hero mechs. Next is there a way to change the paint on the Pheonix mechs to standard green? or do you have to pay to downgrade the paint job? Finally is there a way to get notices when somebody replies to a thread you questioned or commented on? Thanks!

It would be nice but they'll never do that. You know why? Because I feel they'll milk out with some kind of "uber mechs" that will be better than heroes with 35% cbill boost and 15% loyalty boost.
They did this to differentiate them from Founders, they'll do that also for Phoenix.

I'd be glad to be wrong, of course..

The Phoenix 'mechs are not listed as heroes because they do not have a unique loadout. Same as with the founders 'mechs.

You can repaint the Phoenix 'mechs any colour you want. Only thing you currently can't change is the camo. This is what the BLR-1G (P) looks like in standard green:

As to your final question; if you look at the top of the thread, right of the title is a button "Follow this topic". I've personally never used it, so I don't know if it works or not but if you click it you should in theory then get notified when someone replies to the thread.
