Great tips. Yes, that works. I can fit the 250 engine, plus 2 large lasers and 60 ammo for the AC 5.

Ill try it out. I may have problems against light mech. If so Ill change a large laser for maybe 3 medium + ammo for the AC 20. Thanks a lot.

You'll have essentially the same problem with light mechs either way. With the two larges or the 3 mediums your beam length is 1 full second. That's 1 full second you have to try to focus your beam on the enemy for as long as possible. Consider pulse lasers for your anti-light needs, they do more damage than standard lasers, the beam time for the MPL and LPL is 0.6 seconds. It's 0.5 seconds for the SPL. Using the MPLs you can back them up with twin MGs to go with your AC/5 kind of like this.

Twin LL = 18 damage every 4.25 seconds. In 17 seconds that's 72 damage. In 34 seconds that's 144 damage.
3 ML = 15 damage every 4 seconds. In 16 seconds that's 60 damage. In 32 seconds that's 120 damage.
2 MPL = 12 damage every 3.6 seconds. In 14.4 that's 48 damage. In 28.8 that's 96 damage, which at 32.4 is 108 damage.

Thing is, MPLs only need to be held on for 0.6 seconds instead of one, so you'll have that 12 damage much more focused on a specific area than the 18 damage from the twin large lasers could ever dream to be. Backed up by the MGs (have them fire in the same group as your MPLs) and you've got yourself a nasty anti-light weapon setup.

Of course, LPLs are ideal. That's 21.20 damage for two of them every 3.25 cooldown + 0.6 burn = 3.85 seconds. More damage than an AC/20 and it pumps it out faster. (An AC/20 fires once every 4 seconds). Time to grin. :P

Now go forth and slaughter people!

Im liking the Hunchback, but Im having problems in open maps. Positioning is also extremely important, which takes a lot of skill AFAIK, and Ive not mastered it yet. I chose the Hunchback 4G due to the AC20 so I could have some firepower, but that means I mostly have to take on enemies that are not targeting me, which is best in close maps, not open maps, since I cant hit anything over 600 meters.
I cant really go light style because I can only go for 91 km/h and when I try to go with the heavy/assault pack I lack the armor to endure the conflicts. My main role right now is going around, giving info when needed (not enough speed to scout properly) and sometimes finishing lone mechs. I feel like its a niche and suport class, which I dunno if I want to master.

I guess Ill get more experience and maybe go for jaeger or catap later. Thanks for the infos.

Your roll is like light Calvary in a Hunchie. You escort the Brawlers(Assaults) and protect them from faster mechs, shoot who they are shooting at and leave when the firing starts on you, just to come back when they re-focus on the assaults. You respond to help calls but never stray too far from the group. You should never be by yourself. You keep an eye on the LRM boats and if they are engaged short range you respond immediately letting the LRMs disengage then rain fire. Just remember you are bringing fast big guns but are very weak. Hit and run and you are the Atlas's wing man.

Very nice tips.
I wonder if there is a hunchback clan somewhere lol.

I tried the AC 5 + 2 Large Lasers but my play style was suited for close, not long combat. I also dont have the 4x zoom yet, so long combat gets a bit harder.

So, I still dont know if the build is good or not. I may try a AC 5 + 2 MPL + Machine Gun. Could leave me with something to fire from far away and at the same time give me tools to hurt mechs on close combat, not only lights but others too.

A single AC5 is not super effective, two is better. 2 UAC 5 is better still. MPL are far inferior when regarding heat to ML. I only suggest them on the fastest lights that swoop in and then disengage because of the beam duration. Machine gun is good for really hot builds that have 2 tons (1.5) that are not being used. If your AC5 + 2 MPL + MG doesn't hit hard enough try switching 2 AC 5+2 ML.
4x zoom module is worthless, worse then 3x and a money sink do not waste your GXP or Cash on it.

i recommend playing the spider series especially the spider 5k is tremendous fun with 4 mg's and an erll(but i'd like to point out the 4MG's) regardless of what everyone says how bad it is i think u just have to play it right, i had a blast with it yesterday, favorite mech so far!

Spiders are indeed fun to play. Especially in swarms. But I wouldn't recommend them to new players unless they really liked speed and could get use to the controls easily.

And Hunchback vids.
