Alpine is good, I had some great matches there. It just takes some thinking and sense of teamwork and tactics sometimes.
Try it, it works (usually  ).

I'll tell you not to overextend then. You don't have to go full speed ahead like a rabid dog looking for things to kill.

Yes, it a good map, and compared to Terra Therma it's a great one.
Mech behaviour rules should just be adjusted that climbing in some form would again be possible to mechs.
After all, they are powered by fusion engines god's sake.

It is a fun map depending on what mech I drop in.

In one of my long range mechs (Heavy Metal, Cataphract 3D) or a fast light mech (Spider 3D, Jenner 7D) its fun because I can hit something/have the ability to get to where the action is.

In the brawlers I have (Hunchbacks Cataphract 2X) it is definitely less fun and way more risky playing on Alpine. Very little cover to safely close the gap and since they are slower than lights they get picked off easier and quicker. Unless waiting for the enemy to come to you odds are you will die before you get to them.

This is of course if the pack stays together and does not stray. Really need to stick together on this map if you are piloting anything except a light.

Yes we want Alpine. We want more maps not less.

If you miss your enemy on assault, get to the enemy base first or lose to your enemy being smarter than you.

When starting in F11
  • Walk to hill in F9 | F10.
  • Look in the direction of H5 and G5
  • Wait ~60 seconds for enemy to show up
  • Call out if enemy was spotted or not
  • If enemy shows up and is slow move on to F7 and F8 to defend
  • If enemy shows up and has pack of light stay in F9 and F10 to defend.
  • If enemy doesn't show up move onto H10 and shoot them as they are going through the pass.
When starting in J5
  • Either Push to F7 before other team can get into a good position. Alternatively defend I6 and J7. Anything else lets the other team walk straight to your base or shoot at you from above.

Well, yeah, but we all just assumed that was a given and didn't require mentioning.

I enjoy Alpine. I think it's oddly stacked but I've seen enough teams overcome it so it's not too bad. It's annoying when a match is heating up and someone wants to cap though. Even for a mech going 100kph, it's not exactly a short trip back to base.

I like Alpine a lot, it's a large map that you can snipe, LRM, and brawl on successfully. It does punish over extending but that's not a bad thing.

I'm getting a clue 'bout Therma, but need still work on it. Mostly it's just boredom 'cause game spams it so much

But who have guessed when Tourmaline came out, that it will be "DA MAP" with 12 vs 12

IMO, get rid of the giant mountain in the middle of the map and/or make it more of a vally fight(since, IMO, giving the highground to one side gives that side an inherent edge).

Favourite map. Some of the most fun games I have had were on Alpine.

Don't commit the slows until they know which way to go.
