I've been thinking about this since January, but now it's probably too late for Devs to change their plans for the Clan invasion.

I would like to see the Clan invasion be just that in MWO. When everything is ready to introduce the Clans, I would like to see the Devs, without warning, take a while week off from "work" and form 8 man teams in clan tech and just start rolling over 12 man PUGs all day.

I can just imagine the social networks and forums exploding with activity as people report their shock at seeing new mechs show up and obliterate them. Perhaps the forums and such could go down for the first day or two to simulate the ComStar blackout.

Just one fan's dream.

Yes they have invaded, but we just can't play as them yet.

Someone else posted a similar idea a few months ago, only the clan players were selected by the devs from among people who had won tourneys. It's a neat idea, but I really doubt it will happen, it sounds like more effort than PGI would put into this kind of thing.

Also, when you say the devs' "plans for invasion" I find it cute that you think they have a plan.

Why should it be 12v12 on clan invasions? Clans came to destroy the Inner Sphere and take there planets. It should be more like 12(IS)vs28(Clans) even if for one day. It should be a total steamroll basicly in says it on the BT lore that the IS got steamrolled on first day on clan invasion cause IS tech was inferior.

The devs are not really that good at playing this game, the invasion would be over the day it began.... :)

PGI needs to push back their timeline 1 year... because the clan invasion ends in october with the death of the clan leader. We wont even have clan mechs by october!

3050 should start in 2014... so we can have the clan invasion done right.

definitely agree with Khobai, don't bring the clans in until you fix your game and introduce community warfare and actually RUN community warfare successfully for at least 6-12 months. 3050 should be at least 2014!

and having the 'devs play the clans' is just an insult to clans. they're supposed to be bred for war and feared not mocked and shamed by the whole community.

I agree, this or something similar would be a fun idea. Even if they had a bloody AI play the clans or something (as I think it is a bit unfair to just say ok, clans are here, who wants to align clan... I mean who isn't going to? new mechs, new tech, and the lore says that they win almost exlusively for 6 months to a year. So what is the point for playing IS in old mechs and getting your "!£ handed to you?).

And IF not everyone has access to Clan tech right away, with the invasion you could also make salvage usuable. Oh we destroyed a Mad Cat, but it can be fixed since it was just a electronics short? All defending IS players on that defensive drop (if they win) get a chance at taking the chassis or the parts that survived at least.

I also agree with the point on moving the timeline back 1 year as it makes sense to get people invovled with their own political faction choices and CW first. THEN in come the clans.

And if we are really talking clan vs IS, they wouldn't be forming 4 mans, they would be forming 5 man stars, so it would be 10 v 12. That also fits in with the whole clan honor thing and might balance the drops for clan tech vs IS tech, no matter what else they decide to do

I don't think the Devs entoto are better than the majority of players. This would be fail. I think the Devs should just identify the best players and have them man Clan mechs in random 12v10 matches. Meaning you press launch as a 12 man team and you get an incoming force of 10 unknown mechs with no warning.

I started a thread almost a year ago about how PVE should be in the game, and one of the posters had a great idea for the clan invasion:

You're in the middle of a 12v12 match, and all of a sudden drop-ships come out of nowhere, and it's 8 or so fully decked out clan mechs. The team you were originally fighting become allies momentarily while you fight off the clan (who ironically according to canon have the advantage at 8vs24). In this model the clans would be AI based, and random as far as dropping into the match. Always thought it would be a great way to introduce them.

The other one that was brought up on that thread was having trials where you would have to essentially earn your right into the clan (and their tech). But, again this was with the idea of PVE and missions and such. Doesn't look like this is going to happen any time soon, if ever.

Yes, and we have missed Operation(s) Revival 1-4 already, 4 goes until October, but is well underway currently... The DEVs dropped the "TIMELINE" they touted for so long, as soon as development could not keep pace with the "TIMELINE". Isn't that convenient?
.
Want a list of planets that have been attacked and taken over..?? BTW early on the planets attacked were just backwater planets, "BUT" they haven't been backwater planets for a while now, here is a link for you.

Top 5% of ELO should have early access to Clans for 72 hours.

To help simulate the feeling of the IS being... overwhelmed, so to speak?

:)

That would create a firestorm of forum rage and player dissatisfaction, and is probably not a good idea.
On a side note I would be dropping in one of those Clan Mechs. :)

It would be more interesting to have them randomly drop into actual games that is taking place between normal players (e.g. 12 vs 12 vs 12). Although I assume the game/maps don't support any other modes other then 12 vs 12 at the moment which is a shame.
