Gauss Nerf? Can It Be True!

Ok i heard the Gauss is gonna have to be charged? Funny I though Gauss with it's weight and fragility was balanced enough.

This affects my $30+ Heavy Metal more on top of other bugs and nerfs. Honestly it's these kind of decisions that make me want my money back!
It probably will affect the best pop tart the 3D too, when brawlers get in close these mechs can find it hard as is if using ppc / Gauss.
Skill prevails its up to brawlers to close the gap and a pilot with some medium lasers can do more damage depending on the skill level up close especially with recycle-reload time maneuverability etc.
It is decisions like the ones below that have stopped be buying the likes of the phoenix package.

HGN-HM:
  • My 3 large pulse / Gauss it was affected by heat nerf on the pulse itself.
  • Switched to lasers now phantom heat (pulse even hotter) countered with smaller engine more heatsinks.
  • Reticle shake was bad now is OK.
  • SRM tubes are broken.(still not fixed) 6+6 6+4 is messed up but I can fire 4+4 in one volley.
  • Now rifle is gonna have to be charged possibly . Its not the easiest weapon close up and when the heavy metal and other HGN rely on it as it's main weapon they will find close quarter scrims even harder.
PGI PLEASE FIX SRM AND DONT NERF THIS AWESOME MECH ANYMORE. THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH NERFING CAN BE DONE BEFORE IT GETS TO BE NOT FUN AND THE CRY OF PLAYERS THAT CANT PLAY THAT NEED TO L2P AND LEARN HOW TO COUNTER WEAPON LOADOUTS USING TERRAIN AND TACTICAL AWARENESS/SKILL AND SOME LUCK.


Also just for the fun of it if im playing a Charge Gauss mech for 4-6 hours will i increase the likely hood of developing some arthritis?
Hey it's more legit than I'm puking in my jenner due to reiticle shake! right!

sidenote: Really love the game and it's future potential as the best shooter out there but a game should be fun and when people stop having fun they will find another game.

if they give the gauss a 120m minrange, i could live without the chargetime and even a slight healthbuff for it. it HAS to become a specialized sniper weapon, not a "one-serves-all" highpower weapon, it´s just too good to be an alrounder...

and tbh, chargetime is more realistic than minimumrange

Apologies if the above posting seems dramatic just seems this mech has had a few chains placed over it.

Honestly a projectile weapon would not have a minimum range if anything close up it would be more devastating. If any weapon needs a charge time it is the PPC as these can be fired in multiples whereas the Gauss is fired as a singular weapon in most cases.

After the heat nerf i don't find PPC as big problem anymore and if you are silly/unlucky to be hit by a 2x ppc sniper then thats your own fault its a powerful weapon.

Honestly I never knew there was a problem after the quad and hex PPC mechs got nerfed and its fun to run around the overheated stk tearing his rear armor off in a light.

I had a high damage game using 2 ppc and Gauss on my HM last night 700+ but it was two ravens at the end that used their piloting skills and lasers running rings around me in frozen city using cover that defeated the ppc/gauss combo as these weapons cannot be slashed close up like lasers. WP raven's.

Some projectiles need to travel some range b4 they stabilize themself - below that range it could count as ricochet.

I'm warming to minimum range these days too. I mean, I still don't like it, but of all the ideas it seems the least painful. Assuming you are using them for sniping of course.

Well I have a victor and my highlanders and occasionally an atlas i use it for brawling/sniping depending on load-out or situation or just to balance some heat to counter an ac20's.

It will be Gauss out AC20 in ....so whats next nerf all ac weapons.
You can keep nerfing as i said until complexity becomes so much it overrides the fun and all builds will become generic and just follow a meta instead of having variety and this is one of the games strongest points variety.

Why will i say for instance load a cataphract with 2 ppc and a gauss with 4 tonnes of ammo totaling 33 tonnes if i can't use them weapons close up with skill against a jenner with 4 medium lasers totaling 4 tonnes as i said above i was had by two laser ravens with this combo due to their skill and the effectiveness of a brawling weapon up close chances are a ppc/gauss combo will end up overheating in close up battles as is.

The fact is its not just the charge time, its also the whole mechanics of it now. Hell the gauss is no longer canon, as in the tech read outs, if the weapon did cycle, yet had no ammo, and was no longer getting power, if you found a gauss round laying on the ground you could muzzle load it and have 1 shot. Tell me how are you going to do that now, you can't. Another thing is how would a 1/8th ton ball of iron and nickel traveling at mach 2 cause no damage at 120 or less meters.
