1) Sad to see so many hardcore Battletech fans with a wide range of computer specs left out of the beta (even after 6,504 keys released) yet random forum checking still shows a large number of reh-tards posting Beta questions in THIS forum....

Doesn't add up... are all the keys just handed out to random people who made accounts that couldn't identify a Hunchback even if it was labeled? Did honestly checking "I intend to buy a founder's package" knock one out of the Beta pool because they figured you were a guaranteed sell? Did people make 200 accounts to increase their chances?

6.500+ is pretty large number... I know people quote there being 150k+ forum members... but the reality is what... 10ish% of that is active?

How many go to people that don't even check the e-mail they signed up with? Or how much of it a bluff? see next point...

2) 4 beta key's released.... yup basically being trolled by the developers. They know that fans are crazy about it because of the nostalgia and decade of waiting. They know that they have plenty of 25-30+ year old long time fans with the brain capacity to actually beta test on a wide range of computer rigs, but how many are actually used? How many are 15 year olds that said they were 55? How many manipulated their specs? A bit dissapointed to see the trolling... appears that they are fully aware they have a solid fan base to wave the carrot on a stick around.

And before you go and trash talk... it's merely an observation. Right now I have free time. In a month, I wont, so I was hoping that at least a founder's package purchase would allow you in before what is basically the open beta. In the mean time I guess I'll go play 64 player BF3 cqc full scale destruction at 100 fps ;).

edit: a few people don't understand sarcasm... Yes, 4 is actually 4+496... (500)... there is a very informative post that also gave the 6k figure rather than the 4k that can be found in the headlines. Google it... I did before making this post... but someones own arrogance and aggrandizement stemming from figuring they know something that someone else doesnt (mistakingly) blinded them from the obvious sarcasm about the "6,504." I will make sure to write to a younger audience next time.

Good source for the beta test number

edit #2: read below - the trolling doesn't bug me. I have a sweeping sense of humor and (as I state below) its very hard to "rustle my jimmies." That doesnt prevent me from seeing the intent... and I know that it bothered others. I can be bothered by a joke that doesnt bother me if its intent was to bother someone else.

You know the 4 key thing was a joke. They gave out 500 today.

Yes, I do. Doesn't change the fact it is trolling.

- see below for another rebuttal: the post's identified as 4+496 is an informative post that also helped be establish the 6k+ rather than the 4k that came from headlines.

Are you seriously whining about the '4 beta keys joke?'

It's a beta for a video game dude. Maybe they made a joke because taking it so seriously as to get offended is really sad. Also, prettttty I'd rather they keep their pool manageable for testing as opposed to throwing open the floodgates just because people are hyped for a Btech game.

And where do you think I got the 6k number from? The headlines? NO - research and the discovery of a very informative post (4 + 496).

Before you arrogantly rant, make sure it doesn't backfire.

I tend to agree.

I posted earlier about my qualifications when it comes to beta testing. Found that the post was removed. What is going on? I don't expect this reply or post to last long seeing how its being administered. So really, whats going on? Why the censorship of the forum?

Because it's the same crap that we've seen over and over again and falls in line with begging for a key?

Because posting begging for a beta key or asking for a key is frowned upon behavior. So posting a long list of qualifications as a justification for why you picked falls under that criteria. They don't want floods of people begging for beta. Pretty straightforward, really.

further more its BETA testing, they want a small group of people with different specs and different knowlage of the BT universe to test the game they have made, from pro's to new players. People will get in when they get in, you cant control that so why worry?

Hate to say this, but if you can't take being trolled, by Paul of all people, you really need to not be on the internet.

I still have no beta key, but I'm personally enjoying quite a bit being trolled by the devs. Shows they have a sense of humor and are active in the forums.

I didn't see your post, but the above mention of "begging" is frowned upon. Hopefully normal discussion isnt. I know some will try to construe my OP to be begging.. but it isnt.. its just an illumination of a pattern on the forums (fail-testers posting their info). Also I note that the devs made a joke that shows some insensitivity to the fan base. Personally, I didn't care too much... I am a pretty quite and mellow person. It is very hard to "rustle my jimmies."

That doesn't mean that I cant identify the developers joke, and possibly their motivation. I don't have to be offended to identify that it may have offended others.

See my post (hopefully still) directly above. Didn't bother me a whole lot.. in fact if it was specifically sent to me I may have laughed. It is the fact that it was posted on the forums where I KNOW it bothered others. I take note of THAT intent... not what it did for me personally.

I for one, enjoy Pauls sense of humor, it makes looking at the beta threads worth the while.

Why? Because you're whining about a joke? Not particularly. I didn't suspect you 'fell for the troll', just that you're annoyed enough at a joke to post a whine about it. I also didn't 'assume' you didn't do your research. Though I think you trying to frame this as you forwarding an opinion of other people (No no no, I'M not upset about it, but I can see how other people would be upset and THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT) is at least an acknowledgement that it's not the most mature stance to take.

Frankly, anyone who views the fact they aren't in a beta test for a game they're interested in is the absolute worst kind of fan and if it drives them away good freaking riddance.

Again, seeing as how that post was from Paul, we all should know what to expect by now. What I said before applies to ANYONE that gets bent out of shape by his magnificent work.

I honestly think that people are "reading" the beta a bit wrong.

Now that E3 is over, they're giving out 500 keys pretty much every weeknight. Looks to me like the plan is to slowly ramp up the playerbase, to see how the server takes the load as they scale things up.

Will they starting upping it to 1000/night? Dunno.

Still, this smells like very controlled stresstesting to me.
