You'll probably eat though your target's AMS ammo faster than their armor and that's not to discredit your fire power, mind you!
These are ones I posted in another thread which was falsely labeled as a Orion-1K thread not as a Protector thread....
Ok, Smurphy's is updated. So far the K and VA are my favorites. The others look like a chore to pilot to get elites for the first 2.

This VA design is taking advantage of the SRM2 buff. This is likely one of the few applications it would be a serious boon over using a single SRM4 or several larger tubes. One of the Catafpract variants would be another situation.

This K variant is takes advantage of all of the machine's hardpoints except for AMS.

This is a fun looking VA build which combines heavy stopping power with anti-medium and light capabilities.

This K build is meant to wreck things at close range.

And so is this one.

And this is what I have on my Victor. But on an Orion

Height, width borked or about right?
Please compare it to: Awesome (too wide) Stalker (a bit small for an assault) Cataphract and Jager (about right), Trebuchet (too tall).
Ok 2 questions: any glaring hitbox deficiency?

I've tried numerous variants, including 2LL 2uac5, 3LL gauss, and so far, my favourite is 2uac5, 2ML, PPC.

$10 fix
Seriously, any 5 button mouse (2 normal, 2 web browsing, and the scroll bar) works well. Or you can simply remap the scroll wheel press to a weapon group and learn to hit Z to zoom (or remap that)

@Bront: For you maybe, not for me. My mouse has 7 buttons and is an expensive gaming mouse with great accuracy and reliability. I still can't press these extra mouse buttons reliably enough. I come out very frequently at the top of the leaderboard after matches, thus when I say "I can't do it" I mean: It limits my ability, is rather a burden than help etc etc. Also the ranges of the weapon groups in the stock Protector don't match at all, I think it's a very silly build. Hard to play for the player in almost every regard.

I'd compare it to Cataphract/Jager scaling-wise.
Hitbox-wise, the CT is a little big, but it's Atlas/Cataphract big, not Awesome/Kintaro big. Pilots seem to be able to defend it pretty effectively with torso rolling.
With that in mind, here's the sort of build I'm excited about:

I feel like asymmetrical loadouts have a lot of potential here. You don't have JJ turns like the Highlander, but you do have a reasonably fast engine that should help your torso twist speed.

The MAD's AC/5 has always been in the RT (it needs to be; the AC/5 takes up four criticals, but there are only two criticals available in the CT); it's just that the artwork it used (the Glaug Officer's Pod from Macross) showed a machine that had a dorsally-mounted "78mm (3.08 in) Roiquonmi anti-warship electron beam cannon".

Just tried running this build, and I gotta say the UAC5 and the AC2 work pretty well together. It's between this build and one with double AC5s that I'm running my protector with atm. So far it feels alot better than the initial standard engine AC20 variants that I ran.
