ok here's another article I dont seem to understand a few things

http://www.gamasutra...17th_Launch.php

Where it says

'Additionally, the average daily and monthly user statistics month-on-month show an increase of nearly 10 percent growth, which is attributed to key player-friendly features such as the new tutorial, balance and combat enhancements, the new third-person view and new 'Mechs and maps going live in advance of the official launch. With some big content additions planned over the next few months, the game is also experienced concurrent user numbers at all-time yearly highs.'

How can tutorials be cited as cause of new player growth on the day it is patched into the game?

And

New maps going live in advance of launch date when Bryan Ekman says Sept 3rd Patch is last patch before launch in NGNG88?

The same wording from a different source here

http://www.clickonli...h-launch/19816/

So it must be a press release from PGi / IGP so why conflicting information?

There's your answer.

Edit:

Ok scratch that. OP that is NOT a Gamasutra Article. It is a Press Release from PGI.

That's strange indeed.

But they already claimed that 3PV increased player retention after 1 week of existence.

Maybe who wrote this just got a feature list with the newest feature and from another source the 10 % increase and mangled it together, implying a causation that logically can't exist?

Or they are lying. I don't know.

LOL so this is the response to the bad press. Instead of actually dealing with what is causing the issues they just use fiddly numbers to try to show everything is fine. The things they claim to be helping retention were just patched in, i.e. the tutorial is 2 days old.
These guys aren't even very good at damage control. Well, I hope people trying to influence them realize they aren't interested. All they are doing is spinning to try to stop bad press. The lesson they have learned from getting negative feedback is to give us nothing to provide feedback on. B)

If in doubt, I generally assume incompetence before malevolence.

Well I'm not really in doubt considering half the time they openly admit to lying to satiate the "Target Demographic" ;) .

I suppose that means that you'll beat me in the competition for "Most Jaded PGI customer" award. :D

At this point, from PGI, I expect malevolent incompetence. I have no other words for it.
