Will there be any Leagues?

I understand that the planetary warfare system may take the place of the old player run leagues. But a good old fashioned ladder league run from the outside might be fun as well.
I apologise if this is a topic beat to death already, I did try to search first.

Thats because of the added realism. In real battles, you cannot just launch a full out assault with the best of every asset you control. It requires planning, logistics, money so on and so forth. By making a tonnage limit, players simulated with making due with what they got ( Ala real war style) instead of launching a full blown assault halfway across the galaxy from their home base with the best of the best equipment. That's the kind of gameplay I would LOVE to see. Make people do more with less and I can guarantee we would see and have some AMAZING battles.

I agree with both of you guys... ive been waiting for this to be done and i though thtats what MWO was bringing ot the table. Or if not right at first during the beta, down the line wed have that old school fight for the IS like in mpbt solaris on aol or the organized leagues of TKZ or GC with planetary match ups with weight restrictions and tech restrictions. I also love the old style battletech solaris and the open beta 3025 where all mechs were stock no choice of mechlab.. added more strategy in my opinion, had to be good with what u had.

Here's the key comment: "It’s important to state now, that worlds can change from Border to Faction to Core, or any combination thereof, at any time by the development team. This will be necessary to facilitate dramatic changes in faction territory control as we progress through some tumultuous times within the BattleTech® universe."
Players don't control the world changes, the devs do. With a league like the Grand Council, Registry, or Solaris; House Davion could launch an attack on Steiner and capture worlds all based on total player interaction and play. House Steiner could then launch a counter attack or to stop it have to move up front line units to re-inforce it's garrison on planets. Also a faction could choose what tonnage/mechs were being used for that planet's garrison (I.E. a house may choose to bolster more on the outer/border planets and leave the inner planets with a skeleton crew as a garrison).
As for being too early for possible leagues. Not really. We are about 6 weeks out from the open beta date so starting to talk about and see what interest would be in a league would be a good conversation to have now. It's not like you can put a quality league together over night. Talking about it now would allow people to see the interest and then when the open beta goes live they can see the game and start to form how they see the league working based on the "rough sketch" of the game. I don't think anyone here is serious about putting together a league just yet.

I recall (vaguely) being the MRBC president in one of the MW3 planetary ladders we were in at the time (Astral Dominion League) as Damage Inc. and holding meetings in mIRC about contracts, who we should support, logging complaints against employers, who was good, who paid well etc.
I also remember how the bidding system worked, where a garrison size was known so an attacker could bring overkill, but the garrison could hire mercs to bolster their numbers.
It could become a logistical nightmare trying to get attacks/defences/contracts in before the deadlines, but was also hella fun.

#1 if the game has stat tracking.
#2 If you can set up your own matches under some game mode.
#3 if people want to play in the league your promoting.
Yawn back in the day on the MSN Gaming Zone and in game servers when Mechwarrior 3- Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries were running i would say there was ex least 20 leagues going from straight out 1v1-12v12 Solaris style team matches RP leagues and Planetary leagues.

WHat are you basing this on? It is about that to Founders getting into Closed Beta. I wouldn't count on Open beta for at least 3-6 weeks after that... The last post they made about Open Beta says Summer 2012.. This is here http://mwomercs.com/...-pretty-please/ It also states the Fouders will be getting into CLOSED BETA in July not Open..

My bad. So what I really meant was this: We are about 6 weeks out from anyone willing to shell out at least $30 being able to get into the beta.
It's pretty much an open beta at that point since anyone willing to pay will get in and now it has been moved to August 7th. Sorry for not being EXACTLY clear on the terms of agreements. So you can go ahead and unwad those panties now.

Never mind, we'll have to organize leagues as it won't be until there is snow on the ground that Community Warfare goes Live.

nope. Best to worry early so the dev's know you really want it. Development time isn't overnight. Most dev's have 3+ cycles of patches in development at the same time. So a new idea could very easily be many months away.
Personally I hope to get a unit organized that will have in unit tournaments on a regular basis.

As far as needing "in game stats". We never had in game stats tracking in MW3. And yet somehow we managed.
I imagine the thinking is that using in game stats for the battle would reduce/eliminate cheating in the league. We had an easier system that didn't work instantly, but it did work. Get a reputation as a cheater/hacker/stat padder and shortly thereafter you couldn't get a game with anyone else but the dishonourable. Didn't take long either.
I spent the better part of a year as a CZ admin. I know there are many people who would volunteer their time to helping run a league again.
I'm one of them.
Oh and just for old times sake.
CZ UA 1v1 bid
"C1"
"Dropship"
"10 kills"
And then the dance would begin.......Oh my yes........*needs a moment, having a flashback....
