The Phoenix Shadow Hawk might as well be a hero. It's great.

Perhaps not a unique variant, but a cbill booster on the best 'mech per-ton in the game is pretty awesome.

I like the Shadow Hawks, don't get me wrong, but i really don't like the Phoenix one, i just can't make a decent build on it, the other Shawks are better in my opinion.

PPC, AC5, 3 SSRM, XL300, though I've toyed with AC10 and ERLL, UAC5, ERPPC, they've all been good.

  • The Flame is the only Dragon that can use an AC/20 or twin UAC/5. Note: Do not get a Fang or Flame without trying Dragons first. If you like them, then consider it. Most don't like them as they are essentially glorified Centurions, for which Victors are simply better at being glorified Centurions.

Flame only features one ballistic hardpoint. My personal favorite though, highly recommend it if you fit the Dragon's unique combat style

Getting shot in the CT dying early is a combat style now?

I kid, I kid.

Pre hitbox changes.

Besides, constantly teleporting back into a hill is the real combat style of the Dragon!

All of the Heros except the Pretty Baby are good. It is wise however to play a chassis for a while to see if it suits you before buying a hero version.

The Champion mechs are basically optimized versions of regular C-Bill mechs. There really isn't anything special about them other than a 10% XP boost. The real advantage of Champ mechs imo is they come with DHS and usually Endosteel structure and good engines, all of which you would need to buy with C-Bills otherwise.

And Golden Boy. Again, KTO-18 with +1 energy slots at a massive top speed hit.

On the upside the Pretty Baby looks good by comparison!

PS: Jester sucks too. Not as bad as these, though.

I disagree,Victor. The GB isn't bad at all, especially as a streak boat. It's 10x more useful than a PB. I know this to be a fact, because my GB has killed several PBs in 1v1 duels. If your only reason for labeling the GB as "worst" is lower top speed than other Kintaros, then you can't also say the Jester is the "worst" Catapult. You just need to accept the fact that you're a hater.

Or you could accept the fact the KTO-18 is a better Kintaro in every single way for the role you are describing. Thus it sucks.

The Golden Boy is surpassed by a standard CB variant regardless of how you look at it, thus by that definition you should save the MC because the playstyle is better performed on a free chassis... that is unless you want the paint scheme or the CB bonus if you love playing kintaro's.

The Jester on paper is dodgy, the K2 is better in the same roles and also ballisitc purposes. And whilst it doesn't suffer from missileitous (yes it's a new disease!), it does suffer from the K2's dependance on energy based weapons and maintaining LoS for the majority of builds thus exposing it's hitbox weakness. However the Jester does make up with jumpjets, and a rather high engine speed cap (which you will make use of) to allow it to support allies and flank in a successful manner in the right hands.

Still not every hero is better then their standard counterparts, the Heavy Metal is one, it's spread hardpoints like standard victor's really pushed me away from it when the Dragonslayer came along as the DS gave me a true HGN feel in a Victor package. The PB is by far the hardest to use, it's HAS to maintain a frakenmech design and attitude, most of the other hero's add some flavour to their battlemechs variant line up and different advantages based on a player.

I think i actually agree with Victor on something, i just cant find a viable use for a Golden Boy that a K-18 cant do, that extra laser really dont do much, and i dont go as far as Victor to say Shadow Hawks are the best mech, but they are the best medium by far.

Just to clarify I think the Shadow Hawk is the best 'mech per ton; I think you could easily destroy one in a one on one with a Cataphract or Highlander, all things being equal.

So I think we're even on the same page there. Best medium, but shares the throne of "best mech" with the others.

I hope it's a jumping Hunchback with a large engine.

If they introduce a hero like that, it might be a viable 'mech. I like the Hunchback style wise, so I'd love to see it get a shot in the arm.

Oh okay i see, then yes i agree with you, it is on the list as the best mech.
Along with :
Jenner, Lights(maybe raven with ecm but the other ravens suck...maybe spiders too but Jenner's just seem better)
Shadow Hawk, Medium
Drago....i mean Cataphract, heavy
And Personally im going with the Victor as best assualt but its actaully probably the highlander.

Thats the kinda talk that leads young impressionable mechwarriors to Leroy Jenkins at first sight of a dragon only to eat hot Ac10/srm4 death <_<

Seriously though, run big XLs, torso twist, Use your speed, and available cover. Its a cavalry mech, a striker. If you're sniping or brawling you're doing it wrong. Nothing else can do what they do, its not uncommon for my Flame to be the fastest non light mech on the team.

Why not a Hunchie similar to a mix between the MW4 one and MC2 one? JJs, up to 110ish kph, much smaller hunch, missile ports, ballistic hunch, and enough lasers to still have fun. Maybe lose zombieing.
