This is a post directed as a constructive criticism of the game and the state of it.

first off, i have been in game since i bought my founders package and i have seen lots, and i have defended PGI for its decisions adamantly, and i have thrown a fair amount of money into the game as well

In the light of after a fair amount of thought of the bringing in 3rd person i am not so sure anymore

They has done good things for the game
- being able to make this game first of all
- Test Server
- jump jet shake to stop poptarts
- high alpha strike heat to stop boaters
- many other things too numerous to list

they have also done questionable things...
- gauss changes (no i am not a PPC/Gauss whiner, i just don't like the way it is currently implemented and it could be improved somewhat)
- decisions based on profit (yes i know they are a company and yes i know they need to pay to survive to don't get all uptight i mentioned this)
- MC pricing on certain items

they have also done bad things
- 3rd person view

Here are my honest thoughts

Don't get me wrong, i love this game, and this IP, i played mechwarrior 2 in 1996, and i currently still have my original CDS from it. the biggest gripe that i have with the 3rd person view, is the direction this game is currently going.

WHY in Jacques Ives Cousteau's name are you guys making the game easier and easier by spoon feeding people 3rd person view by making it easier for them. I really do not like how games are not based on SKILL anymore.

I don't want to say this but i am anyways and if i incur wrath from others then so be it. PGI please DO NOT make this game into a dumbed down version of the cancer that is call of duty based on the whiners comments who can't adapt new skills to play THIS game.

I say this because in the last 4 years, or so Those games have mindless terrible gameplay, and that is the direction this game is headed. I see it every time i log in, one person leads the rest to their deaths like lemmings. I try and get others to follow me and flank etc etc, but it usually never works and i'm usually in most cases the last man standing with backseat drivers telling me "how to play" and "learn to aim" and "uninstall the game you suck"

i don't want out community to degrade into that disgusting mess like that, i get enough of that in WOW, and Diablo, SWTOR, and several other games that i currently play, and its dangerously really close to that with the people saying that you have broken the game, and you ruined the IP etc

i tried using 3PV i tried defending its being in the game, and since its been out for a short time, i just plain hate it with a passion. all i use it for is to look at my mech for a few seconds and go back to first person view.

Now i realize that you guys plan to make two queue hardcore and pug mode for this, but WHY would you devote so much time and energy into a feature that you KNEW no one wanted? just to bring in new players? last time i heard, you guys made 5 million of the founders package ALONE when you only have 7 or 8 mechs in the game. So i don't know why you need MORE people wait yes i know what it is.... greed

Why would you want to spilt the community again, its split 6 times with factions from the inner sphere. (mercs don't count), THEN you have the clans 4 of them that invade

so just on basic math alone here 6 x 4 = 24 times the community is already split then you throw your 3rd person in there you times that whole thing by 2 and the community is split 48 times. that really seems like overkill to me since we know next to NOTHING on community warfare, IF it even exists at all

please start making decisions based on community feedback in the future to make this game better and more fun to play. not based on "oh hey this is cool lets throw it in and attract more players and not care what the community thinks about it."

and be HONEST about it from the start because thinking like that will come back and bite you in the keister, and ruin your rep, and its already started as you guys have already noticed

No campaing/scenario no purpose or advancement of a goal. No voice actors/video footages or npc characters that we could bond, basically story elements of any kind(which helps immersion in any game). Being a pvp only game it is quite limited in those areas. Rather meh gameplay, with very straightforward and non-creative game modes while having no goal of any kind outside gameplay. Weird extra rules that hampers gameplay(ghost heat, GR delay vs), bad movement and persisting gamebreaking bugs. Do i have to keep going?

I mean look at the original mechwarrior 5 trailer one with the warhammer. And just compare that to what we have now. They failed hard somewhere on the road very much. I gave up hope a while ago, that this game will become what i had expected of it at the time. They've yet to introduce community warfare but from what ive seen of what they've done with the time they had, i dont think it'll be anything special. I guess i should just play mwll

I am in complete agreement with Lordhammer. There was always some kind of story or video cut scenes NPC verbals and such that brought other Mechwarrior titles a good feel, a guy could get into a storyline or campaign.

All I know is that in the last few months they game has been getting increasingly less fun.

C-bill earnings went from tolerable to grind and alot of my mech builds got made totally worthless as a side effect of the Gauss, Steak and PPC/ER PPC nerfs. What is worse is that none of the builds I ran with those weapons were the cheese builds and none would have been considered problems by anyone, therefore my builds got nerfed to oblivion as a "Side Effect" of them fixing unrelated issues. Basically they pretty much put blinders on to what would else would be broken by their "Fix".

In general I feel like I am spinning my wheels as far as progression goes (only progression in the game is collecting mechs and experimenting with builds, but not enough C-bills to do this), and being slowly but surely forced into very generic, bland builds due to PGI's crazy balancing and heat mechanics.

Definately in a Catch 22. I don't see the value of investing any more real money right now without them reverting back the encomony and several of the weapons nerfs and/or adding new features, game modes, etc, but the game isn't worth playing more than a few matches here or there without a premium subscription due to the intolerable grind. Therefore been spending most of my time in Neverwinter, WoTs, Warthunder and even loaded up AoC to pass the time. Opps guess PGI forgot they had alot of competition out there.

The cbill amount isnt the problem. The problem is the gamemodes arnt fun. If the gamemodes were fun it wouldnt feel nearly as grindy.

There has been a lot of constructive criticism, there was quite a few gems.

PGI's attitude toward the forums has been abysmal. This is their community their fan base it is their responsibility to cultivate it and grow it . Unfortunately they have chosen to regard it with disdain and look to a broader more elusive market of general gamers .

As they said in ask the devs 46 they want to move the conversation forward.
they are done with talking to us about the core feature set of what used to be MWO .

They now want to discuss how awesome MWO is when you listen to them and read their statements its quite apparent they no longer need any more criticism.

In their minds the game is great its ready for launch, they have created a port of this game for at least one of the consoles and are ready to take full advantage of that market.

What you have on your hard drive is MWO.

What they will do with it is going to be determined how well the general gaming community receives it .

this game has been refitted to meet that player base.

With that in mind and in a effort to keep the conversation "moving forward"

You really have to ask your self are you prepared to play the same game you have been playing since beta for another 6 months ? (hopefully not a year)

because that is what they are asking you to do .

They have created a stripped down Mech Warrior Game with online aspects and limited gameplay.

This feature set they are launching with is considered strong enough to gather mass appeal with general gamers. With this player base in mind, they are no longer focused on providing a game for mechwarrior fans.

They want to broaden the appeal, make the game more accessible, and provide a experience that is familiar to those who casually game and or have little experience with games.

They are asking you to play that game, and enjoy those features and await for MWO 2.0 to provide for a more engaging experience.
