In advance, i'm sorry for this having become a huge wall of text, but listen up!!
This community and these developers are driving me nuts, why can't we all just play nice and get along for the greater good of this game?
The players seem to hate the devs and sometimes each other too.
The devs seem to ignore the players and make false promises.
Now the players are an enormous group, The entire group can not be convinced to just play nice, there will always be black sheep in the herd. However the developers are different, they're a small team, at least next to the playerbase. The devs have an even smaller group of people that directly interact with the playerbase, (community managers, etc) which narrows down the list of whose attitudes need to change, since nobody else is talking. Basically it is the developers job to make sure their small group of dedicated people, is more mature than the playerbase group. PGI is not doing this as far as i have seen, they've been pretty unprofessional in this regard.
It would make MWO a better game, and this community a better place, if...
1. The players realized the devs are not evil greedy creatures that work solely to trick you into giving them money. Giving them money is a choice you made, you're supposed to have made that choice because you should have known it was worth it, if it wasn't you just don't know how to spend.
2. The developers stopped just completely ignoring the majority opinions of the playerbase. Like i said the playerbase is a much bigger group, now it is just pure stupidity to think that your team of few knows better than the majority of people in this whole army of players. The majority is who should be listened to.
3. The developers actually started learning from their mistakes.
Don't make promises you won't keep, if you made a word, stick to it. That's just common decency.
Ignoring the players isn't getting you anywhere nice. The majority of the players said third person view is a bad idea, for the most part they were right, now the majority is saying that the game is nowhere near ready to launch because of the boatloads of bugs, and lack of introduction for new players. What will you do? you're not again going to ignore the playerbase are you? if you punch enough holes in it, the ship will sink. It's already started, what's it gonna be PGI? sink or float? This is the best game you've made so far, you're not just gonna let it die like this are you? i know you're better than that, and i know none of your employees would even want that.
4. The players realize that pirahna games want this game to succeed just as badly as we do. Its not that they don't want it to be good, that is every game developers dream. It's that they just don't seem to know how. and all of our rage or badmouthing of them isn't going to have any positive effect on the game.
There. 4 points, not much but it'd be infinitely better here.
Now what the devs can do to push us into that direction.
1. Admit your mistakes. It's ok, its a part of making us realize you're human, don't justify your mistakes just admit them, say you're sorry. Fix it. the players are outraged because of 3pv, and this isn't just because they dislike it, it's because the majority of all playerbase who had anything to do with the discussion of it before it was added to the game did not want it. Yet you spent time and resources on it and added it to the game despite knowing this, It was a terrible terrible mistake, admit it and remove the 3pv is what people would normally want, but you can't do that after spending so much time adding it. so. do something cool with it, lets say that this drone for 3pv has a battery. This battery only lasts for 15 seconds before it needs to be recharged for 30 seconds. this means that players cannot really play in 3pv but they will still be able to use it as a tactical advantage. The drone can be shot down by enemies as-well. That'd be an excellent solution in my opinion. make the drone a part of the gameplay, but don't make third person gameplay viable. Sure, not everybody is gonna just love you. But a lot more players will learn to accept it more easily.
2. Apologize for your mistakes. You made a mistake, terrible. You admitted it, first step towards recovery and we players will most likely respect that. But are you sorry? the players will want proof. A written apology is much, but as long as no action is taken to fix what the players were all raging about no one will accept the apology, it'll just be branded as a lie.
3. Put more focus on bug fixing and less on new features. The game is very unstable and crashes and freezes all the time for everyone who plays it. People tell you and yet, you ignore this. i haven't seen any effort made to reduce crashes in the couple of patches i've seen.
Bottom line is, everyone is just as human as the next guy, the dev is a human, the player is a human, and we're not supposed to be some sort of enemies, we're supposed to be allies, fighting for the goal of making this game even better than it already is. I personally love it like it is, but i don't want to see it go down the road it's headed. I don't want it to die because of some huge amount of players raging over something that the developers could've very well avoided. I don't want it to die because the developers don't get their priorities straight either. And i don't want to see it die from anything except age. Come on, this game just needs a push in the right direction to become one of the most significant multiplayer arena games ever made! do it PGI!
lastly:
Players made death threats on the forums? oh boo hoo. what the hell are moderators for? IGNORE THAT. but don't ignore the game code problems. Nobody is going to kill you over a video game and you are not some sort of John Lennon, you're just a programmer and nobody really wants to shoot you.
Like i said, black sheep. Us other players don't like them any more than you guys do. So remove their post and put a few weeks ban on them for them to cool off their heads, you think you're the only game developers that players threatened to murder? hells no. Others just know how to manage forums.

No matter what the devs do people will complain. Then all the complainers will complain, the whole time still playing the game and purchasing MC and mechs. The devs arent perfect either, but I think its worst for a player to complain so much AND still be giving the guys your money, thats the worst to me. The devs are out to get your money and they keep giving it to them when they release a shiny new mech or have some {Scrap} sale, that only happens to be a MC sale, never a in game currency sale.
PS:Lol, really this censoring is pretty sad

In fairness, there is a difference between complaining and providing feedback on the game we're beta testing. Oh, and yes, the censoring is rather absurd. I think (not sure, as I was unable to replicate it) they censored some form of whiteknight to be {Noble MechWarrior}

Yes there is a difference, but both happen. Im talking about the complainers that always complain no matter what. Feedback is always good. And beta testing? Really? This game is basically released, the beta tag is an excuse to make up for all the problems.

Just because it's 'basically released' doesn't mean that we can no longer test the beta. Yes, it is still a beta, and it will be for another ten days. Now, what the developers do with that test info is entirely up to them, but they are still gathering it.
