Cicada 3C build
It's not as bad today, but it was pretty terrible before the netcode fixes.

I have seen 6 PPC stalker builds blow themselves up.
I have once seen an 8 PPC stalker.......
I once ran a HBK 4SP with only 2 LRM 15s and an AMS. For one match. I then reverted to SRM6's-and yes this was pre buff.
The trial spider........

wait, what?! An 8 PPC Stalker? How's that possible?
I didnt stop to ask. But he cooked VERY quickly
As for a new one: An Awsome 8T with 4 LRM 15s and nothing else. Suffice to say i have just finished punishing him for this mistake.

LOL, had something similar happen. On Caustic I spotted a Cicada sneaking in the back way to our base. When I closed in and started firing, he didn't fire back. He ran to our base and shut down. I proceeded to destroy him. He messages something like..."Hope you enjoyed the free kill...no ammo" I simply responded..."I did".
It was a dual Ultra A/C5 Cicada, I'm guessing he forgot the ammo or more likely picked standard A/C5 ammo by mistake.
I remember when I first started playing the game I didn't realize there was different ammo for the UAC - I loaded up some AC 5 ammo and spent three matches trying to get the damned guns to fire.

but Stalkers only have, at most, 6 energy hard points. The Awesome's got 7, but one of those is in the head. Was there a version in the closed beta that had more hard points? The only mechs that actually do have enough hard points to mount that are the Hunchback & the Blackjack and even then 8 PPCs weighs 56 tons...

I'd disagree on this one, as I find I'm most consistent running LRM boats in PUGs. Other builds sometimes have to depend on the rest of the team to at least provide some form of assistance (even if it's as simple as "a distraction"). You're right to say the kills might vary per game, but I generally find myself doing decent amounts of damage. Other builds can massively swing.
It's just that pure LRM Boats have no counter if the enemy manages to close. I've been in situations where my DaishoCat (LRM30 and Streak 8s) have ran out of LRM ammo, closed, and found a LRM40-only Cat. And ate it for lunch with the Streaks. Always have a Plan B... I'm doing LRM45 Orion now, and my Plan B is a pair of large lasers.

Worst actually playable loadout, the flamer only hunchback.. This was before the flamer buff. It did do some good as it was a pure hell to try and see or target anything else. But on the flip side that was all it did.
When LRM Apocalypse was in effect, I saw an STK-5S with dual AMS, that's it. Was moving fast so STD 315 in it. Think he was part of a team that was just using it to shoot down LRMs.

Did this myself actually. Thought it was a bug and even reported in back in Closed beta. Talk about feeling dumb after I complained about it in game and got "corrected".

I still think it is ok to have a specialization build as a PUG, but I suppose we just disagree on this one. I will say one thing though, it looks painful when you are getting torn up with no way to respond.

Yea, it is easy enough to do. I think people (myself included once) have installed Streak launchers and loaded standard SRM ammo (or visa versa). Mistakes happen, but man does it suck when they do.
