There was a slow exodus... To me the cause was lack of CW... People got bored because there was nothing to fight for and they left... 1 by 1...

COD kids begging their parents to buy them games or people who have been fans of the MW IP for decades and therefore are more likely to be an older age bracket with jobs and disposible income.

Yeah, great call.

I do not care to read the rest of this thread, but I do want to focus on this:

That's the market that has the "MONEY"

No, they are not. PGI milked $5 million from the founders. The 'twitch lol COD" will bail as soon as they get bored, which happens when they hit the paywall or have to grind out cbillz for robots they do not care about.

Your founders/BT guys are the ones that MADE this game and DRIVE its' sales. PGI forgets that.

You partially missed the point. While a lot of players were disgruntled with being forced to have both 3PV and 1PV in the same game most of us were annoyed purely by the fact that PGI did not inform us of their intentions prior to releasing said functionality. It wasn't even in the test servers for a brief test and no player feedback was garnered beforehand. So the main concern many of us have is how PGI will be handling future changes without consulting the playerbase prior or saying one thing and then doing another both of which are valid concerns.

LOL! Consult the Player base? Really? You mean that loud crowd who don't even know if their arses are Bored or Punched and couldn't agree on what side the Head is on on a Two Headed coin? That Player-base? LOL! That is just precious of a real precious nature. Thank the Gaming Gods PGI did their own thing and stayed the hell away from their "Player-Base" and all of what they could never decide on, other than what they thought they hated, before it ever happened. LOL

Good one. Consult the Playerbase. OMG! Brilliant that, absolutely brilliant. :)

I saw some of the same players five matches in a row last night. With a big player base what are the chances of that?

For many that depends on what TZ they are in. Do not forget, MechWarrior is a niche game to start. What with all the bad mouthing the BT/TT knuckle draggers have heaped on MWO, it is a wonder how any MW computer game would have had a decent chance. MWO survives and with no thanks to the TT/BT bad mouthers, who just can't get of the kitchen table and into the 21st century. :)

You blame the BT/MW fans and not PGI for the current state of MWO?
It's not the fans who changed the direction of the game, or had "internal communication problems", or caused delays, etc. I could go on but what's the point...

PGI brings the badmouthing on themselves with the way they have mishandled not only the game but also their relationship with the fans. But it seems they don't want a relationship with the real fans anyway, and as time goes on MWO becomes less and less a BT/MW game.

No, It's our fault for complaining about it. Didn't you know that you are supposed to be happy when people take your money and deliver everything but what they promised? Come on man, get with the times.

Perhaps you should stick to mobile phone games. They are the no thought needed, zombie interactivity games you seem to want.

Then again if you really must play on your PC Call of Duty sounds right up your alley. You can even VOIP all those little mouthy kids and really show them how tough you are.

The largest part of the 3pv scandal is the about face of promised features. 3pv wasnt the first but it was the final slap in the face for some. I want this game to be the mechwarrior simulator it was supposed to be. But then again whats another 10 yrs right?

There Mr. Troll I hope you are well fed. If you are thirsty, PGI has lots more Koolaid for you.

not sure..

But HOPEFULLY it's not picking from the whole player base in my matches. It should be picking people who have a similar Elo rating to mine. Which I hope cuts the vast majority of players out of matches I am selected for.

edit: make that 4 failed to find matches lol

I've seen similar development, kinda worrying. At least might indicate that low population times in some elo brackets ARE getting less crowded. And I have definately noticed somewhat "widening" scope of players being thrown together. Or then I'm just getting old and unable to shoot. Propably latter...

This line of thinking is why we have yearly CoD sequels and very little differences between games of the same genre. I find myself playing MWO less and less while playing ArmA 3 more and more because it's stayed very similar to the game I initially fell in love with. I work 2 jobs, I'm a full time student, and I have a family. Games I like get my money, and at first this game got some of my money. Since then, not so much. I don't get to play nearly as much as I'd like, but when the games I like start catering towards a different crowd, it's time to move on. Unfortunately this is happening at an alarming rate, and if it keeps up I really might end up dropping gaming altogether. It's a damn shame, too.

Agreed... troll post.

However, I felt the need to at least correct the OP on a few points as I'm 35 myself and...

1) 1PV was the only reason I still played this game. It wasn't hard and gave the game some sense of tactics instead of scouting from cover with 0 risk. I.E. I could gamble on a flanking maneuver with my lance and have a chance of swinging the battle with a surprise attack, giving scouts a necessary and risky role.

2) As a small business owner, married, and have a social life: I don't have the game time I used to, however, as a result, I'm very dedicated to the few games I choose to play.

3) My income is roughly around $10.5k/month giver or take projects (big bonuses) and the need to replace infrastructure, hire employees etc...

4) I put my money where my mouth is and supported PGI as Battletech is one of my favorite genres...

So when you start tossing around phrases like "that's where the money is" you MIGHT want to rethink that. I support games that are good, stand by their client/customer base and honor what they say they will do.

Right now, PGI is failing with epic proportions in all of those categories and has lost a paying customer. It's statistically much harder to gain new clients than to retain existing ones. If you alienate the core fan base, most of which are made up of the 30+ crowd btw... you lose your paying customer base and cater to younger, more fickle generations that move from the latest flavor of the month game to the next.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out this is a sinking ship and horrid business model.

To a topic maker.
Go buy console PS 13 or nintendo maxi and play with your small kids.
Some serious people that have money, want a serious game and dont want their brain dumb downed. If something wants to be for everybody, ends his history being for nobody.

Thare are great examples of good games that aim at audience somehow major then thirteen. Just to recall some. Arma series or Rise of Flight.
