Alright, so I don't check here that often (if at all), but it's nice to see we're getting closer towards Founders Packages and the Open Beta...but there are a few loose ends up in the air.

This faction is one of them. I don't read the Mech Profiles often - due to the fact they get cluttered in with a half dozen other news topics I'm not looking for - but it occours to me we're close to the Beta, and we've had Stiener, Davion and even a few Liao mech's pop up...but none of Marik, Kurita or the Free Rasalhague Republic Mecha have shown up, to the best of my knowledge.

I consider the latter especially poor show, given they're (as far as I am aware (and given I was introduced to BattleTech/MechWarrior during the Clan Era, I don't have a lot of knowledge on the Succession Wars)), a completely new faction that hasn't shown up before now, and even now a short time before the Beta is rolled out, there's been utterly no talk of them.

I don't claim to know the Developer's Will. But it strikes me as mighty odd that nobody seems to have done anything for them.

Are the Dev's saving the best for last? Will the Free Rasalhague Republic be recycling someone else's Mechs? Have I quietly insulted someone without meaning to?

...I hope the last one isn't true.

We've had at least one mech from each of those factions...

The dragon and Jenner (I believe) are Draconis painted

The awesome was from Marik

The cicada was FRR marked

Well, Rasalhagians are a splinter group from Kuritans, so their mechwarriors use mostly Kuritan designs and also some Steiner ones. ;)

Their own designs don't exist at the time as far as I'm aware, though.

Not looked too closely, but I did find an Article for the Dragon, a Kurita Mech as far as I can tell, so it counts. While it's a Mech I'm not familiar with, isn't the Jenner either Stiener or Davion? The Raven I know is a House Liao mecha, and the Awesome and Cicida I also thought was either Stiener or Davion. All the Mechs in the art seem to be painted in a default colouration, so as far as I can tell it could be a Merc or Lone Wolf paint scheme.

Really? That sucks. Even House Marik's been able to make a few indiginous mecha (e.g: Trebutchet).

The dragon and Jenner are about as Kurita as you can get. They are both DC original designs. The Awesome is a FWL design but I'm not sure about the Cicada. It terms of paint schemes - all of the mechs released thus far (with the exception of the Atlas and the Dragon) have been painted in canon unit schemes. Just gotta look close for house crests and unit insignias.

In which case, I'm probably going to need a Magnifying Glass to find them. Small details - not typically what we're looking at! X3

I just looked the Cicida up, and it turns out it's a FWL/Marik mecha.

Cicada is FWL. The non-PPC Awesome variants are particularly popular in the FWL because of their difficulty acquiring PPCs during the late succession wars. (so the AWS-8R and AWS-8T feature large lasers and missile racks)

Yeah Alex's artwork is subtle. He doesn't like throwing paint schemes in people's faces, it's usually like an easter egg almost. Check out the concept art repaint thread in the fan art section to have your mind blown with paintschemes.

Well I'm sure Alex is a fan of MWO, but no he's a dev. No - HERE - is a thread created by fans where, within photoshop, they apply their own paintjobs and schemes to the concept art released by the devs. Almost every unit under the sun is represented there. A lot of the guys are extremely talented.

The Free Rasalhague Republic is in no way a "splinter group" from Kuritans. We were our own independent state (The Principality of Rasalhague) and one of the oldest IS nations before Kurita attacked and occupied us. After centuries of rebellion against the opressors we finally regained our independence.

At this time in the timeline FRR uses both Steiner and Kurita mechs for its army but we have not yet produced any new original FRR mechs.

You knwo how I meant it. That kind of splinter group like St.Ives.

Independent, but still not a settled nation using only the tech they took with themselves/ salavaged, but nothing they produce directly.
