Not really, if I dont like the mech I grind it thru basic then sell! Guess, my only one is the Death Knell cause I bought it. Still good for what it is but what it is not good.

Some say the Catapult K2, but I say the Catapult C1.

I cling to it because it is my Mini-Madcat. I was doing as high as 2.0KDR with it too, but something changed down the line and it has been difficult to do well in it for months. I have been tinkering with the loadouts, but it is currently at 1.7KDR and sliding.

I am currently using 2LLasers, 2MLasers, and 2 LRM10s (with JJ). Its descent, but *sigh* just not doing good enough.

Why can't I quit you!!

first it's the jenner, i originally liked the idea of speedy lights but when i pilot one it feels like i'm hanging from the bar of a roller coaster as it goes down the first big slope. in fact that's why sarah's mech is the only light i own-til the Urbie of course. ok technically i get stuck with a locust or 3 when it comes out...

other one is my BJ-1X, i like the speedy medium thing (appears my preferred speed is 90-110kph as far as what i can handle) but can't get any consistancy to it, tried every combo of 6-8 ML/SL/SPLs and were kinda generic, now trying 4 MPLs and still generic results. kdr is barely over 1 though my w/l is slightly better.

my BJ-DC is my "good loss" mech. 1.2kdr (yeah that's good for me-but mostly play mediums) but w/l is only .86. on the other side of things my treb 5J (which i'm not fond of so it doesn;t count for this topic) which has a nifty 1.39 w/l to go with it's sad .6 kdr.

I'll have to say Assaults too. I own an Atlas and Highlander. LOVE the concepts and weapon builds...but once i go in i get the "Oh i'm a tank, i need to be up front" ...cuz thats how i see assaults....then I get destroyed. Even with cover and group and planned attacks and yadda yadda. I'm a light player. Love my Jenner...miss the speed but love the weapons in an Assault. I WANT to be good with them... just aint happening. Maybe my battlemaster will spark something.

I love the Ilya Muromets because of its weapons capacity, but I am so terrible with it. I do much better, more consistently with my Cataphract 2-X.

Same, working on mastering Highlanders after running the majority of my matches and doing great in a Jenner 7F.

I love the Jenners 'cause zipping around between the hulking frames of my teammates and enemies activates that space-sim part of my psyche where you tear around in a fighter between dueling cap ships.

But I typically do less damage and don't survive the match in a HGH. Which is pretty sad. All the light piloting has brainwashed me into thinking I can escape danger. In an Assault if you deviate from the team its over...which makes it all the more frustrating when your boys are mooing into some {Scrap} position. If you're not confident enough to suggest an alternative, you're stuck trudging along behind hoping for the best.

I have a similar experience running a Catapult K2. Now matter how hard I try to stay in position for long range energy attacks I tend to drift towards the front of the battle lines.

haha I like the "your boys are mooing into some {Scrap} position" - I know it's probably a typo, but they move EXACTLY like a herd of cows!

Definitely the Stalker.

I love piloting them, love their look etc. Just every time I get in one, i die with 200 damage. :)

For me, mostly slow assaults like the Atlas. I play ok in them but given my playstyle is mostly speedier heavies and assaults that go reasonably fast (80kph+) I have a hard time getting the same damage output then I do in my favourite mechs.

Maybe one day I'll figure out how to not get left behind or creamed because I couldn't turn fast enough to take them out before they do.

Commandos. wanted to master them, the ECM one, the Hero and another.. did a few nice games with the ECM one, and even made the basics with it.. then got slaughtered time and again with the TDK and the other.. sold the whole bunch..only Hero ever sold, cause i / it sucked with it... i do fine with Jenners, Spiders & Ravens though.

It's always been the catapults for me. The a1 with its lrm spaming lrm5s or the c1f with lrm 10s four mls and two jjs. Some matches are great and others I'm just praying to the gods of lock ons for one shot.

Lights (and Cicadas) hate me. I still keep one of each: spider, raven, and X5 just because I think "I should have some lights". Perhaps just in case they ever add some damn weight limits to drops. I like the idea of lights, but I also have an unhealthy habbit of standing still in the heat of it....

My K/D ratios overall are not great, but I usually get top 3 damage per game in my Dragons & Blackjacks, so I cannot claim them as my guilty pleasures. ;-)

Centurion and Cicadas.
I just cannot grasp the "drive-by-shooting' play style needed to play these mech well.

I love to run around and machine-gunning things in my 3C, or backstabing mech with AC/20 in a Wang.
But my Hunchback, Blackjack and even Kintaro always out perform them in damage and survivability.

I love the AWS 8Q, it is the 1 of 3 assault mech that I still keep around my mechbay.
The other being the 8R and STK 3F.

Atlas.

I really wanted to like it. But it is a jack-of-all-trades mech. I like mechs where I can concentrate on only two weapon systems. It looks cool, but I can't use it.

Cataphract was another one. I don't know how anyone hits anything in those things. The arms practically drag on the ground making shots over a ridge practically impossible. And the cockpit might as well have a bullseye painted on it (completely facing foreward, and it is not small). But I like how it looks...like the mutant offspring of a Marauder and a Battlemaster.

I can't for the life of me get the hang of cicadas. I can do "ok" in them, but I need a mech with arms to suit my "driveby" playstyle. To get into the zone for playing a cicada as a fast striker, try watching an old war movie with planes strafing... like Tora Tora Tora or something  Hit and git!

Agreed... not a great mech, but the knell is hilariously fun to run soemtimes... it's packing a lot of punch for such a wee mech!

I want my Founder's Catapult C1 to work, but if it's mounting PPCs with 2 SRM6 and 2 ML, I seem to do better with a 3D with 2 PPCs and 1 UAC5, maybe because the PPCs are mounted higher and the UAC5 gives good pin-point damage. I've been trying to use SRM6s on my C1 and my Highlanders for brawling, but their damage is way too spread out to do anything.

Or I can use a C1 with 2 LL 2 ML and 2 LRM10 (or 15) but it runs too hot when things get up close. I guess I should maybe go back to an LRM boat C1 with 4 ML, but I could pilot a Catapult A1 or Highlander 733P if I want to just lob missiles.

Speaking of which, I want the 733P with 2 PPCs, 2 LL and 3 SSRM2 to work, but it just doesn't. Granted, I didn't try very hard.

I love Stalkers, love Ostrich legged mechs. But I hate how slow they are and how anything faster can get in behind me and stay there. I lvoe most mechs that don't have a Humanoid look ie. Summoner / Hellbringer / Hunchback / Orion / Highlander / Zeus /Thug. They have arms and legs but no real world looking shoulder and head though the Highlander comes close, I just always liked it's trapezoid head.
