This makes them competitive.

ii)No.But maybe a shorter Beam.

I say increase refire rate by .25. That gives a small DPS boost, plus the improved accuracy compared to normal lasers. That, or a range boost.

This would also make them hotter to use and they are already pretty darn hot running.
Personally though not to lore, I would like to see them reduced in weight to 6 tons each to give you a bit more room for additonal heatsinks on your builds. Shorter beam duration would also work or as someone mentioned in an early thread, make them continuous fire kind of like a MG, something you could just hold down the trigger one until you overheat anyway.

or just reduce their heat by 1 pt? seems like a simple solution?

I support this idea in a way. Except that instead of concentrating all the damage in a single beam, pulse lasers will fire a "shotgun spray" of beams that do 1 point of damage each in a tight cone. Hit probability is increased, potential damage is increased, with heat and cooldown time subject to tuning.
SOMETHING needs to be done to differentiate pulse lasers from regular lasers. Right now they function exactly the same as regular lasers with a shorter beam duration and higher heat/damage/weight. I want something that acts completely different...
