And you must have missed "that's the way PGI designed them and they've always been powerful weapons in the game whether it be TT or computer" because if you hadn't you wouldn't ********* such nonsense from your orifice.

Take Macros away and button pushers don't do the same damage, bottom line.

"Oh yeah, this weapon is totally OP in the fluff, so it's actually OK to be OP in the game."
Go away.

Its simple, make holding down the fire button the fastest way to EVER fire a weapon, and you effectively kill all macros, also dont ustilise weapon fire methods that involve timing patterns to utilize the weapon better.

Consume large quantities of defecation and self terminate pal...........I'm not defending UAC's, I'm saying that if you **** out there that have to use MACROS in order to win a game and feel good about yourselves were prevented from doing so then the UAC's would have the limitations programmed into them. As it stands now, the limitation that is supposed to help balance them isn't effective precisely because too many low self esteem players use MACROS in order to make themselves feel better about their lives.

i have run a triple UAC5 since Ilya came out and have always loved it... BUT! it has a few drawbacks to get the real DPS potential out of a UAC build requires you to show your whole body and dakka dakka away. The only way it becomes incredibly deadly is if you use it as a flanker/behind assault mech.

Oh wow, such a unique weakness, I bet no other mech build needs to show their whole body in order to dakka dakka away, and most other builds are straight up face to face brawlfests where the 3xUAC Ilya just can't compete.
Note: this was sarcasm.

I just have to laugh at "DPS does'nt mean anything".

How is having to face your opponent face on a disadvantage when you can shred his mech in 5 seconds straight through his centre torso? If the enemy torso twists so what? Whatever part he twists to is going to get shredded in a few seconds so he's screwed anyway and if he dares to turn back to try and fire, bang, his ct is gone.

Basically in a one on one situation with ac's vs lets say lasers one player just has to sit there holding his finger on the fire button hitting the enemy mech and they'll die fast. The other mech has to aim for a weak spot, concentrate fire on it, twist away to even have a chance of surviving, twist back, aim for the weakspot again through all the screen shake from the dakka and deal with the heat generated by the lasers aswell in the hope he can knock out the enemy.

It's situational. If you have a sniper versus UAC/5 user, and the sniper plays to his strengths of peek-shoot-hide, the sniper will win out because he has superior burst damage. If you have a striker against a UAC/5 user, again if the striker can play to his strengths of hitting hard with burst damage and fading away again, the striker will win eventually.

If the UAC/5 user can play to his strengths, and gain a vantage point from which he can lay sustained fire on the target, he wins. That's fair.

For the record, I primarily drive the Hunchback-4SP, so this isn't even about me defending what I drive.

As per the norm the people dying and baddies complain for nerfs while all others scramble to find whats left to use to **** the aforementioned crowd...at some point everything will have been nerfed so hard that all will be left are small lasers and all baddies will applaud the 'even' playing field, but even then the baddies will QQ after still continuing to fail.

I don't understand how wanting an end game where nothing is a must have weapon and everything can be good in the right situation makes someone worse of a player than someone who condones a metagame skewed in favor of a specific weapon or build.

And why not?
In a game with severe limitations on the number and type of hardpoints our 'Mechs possess, a Small Laser needs to be comparable to a Medium Laser at some level or it becomes completely useless.

DPS certainly means something, but the fact you have to face down and can't torso twist while trying to remain a DPS monster doesn't do you any favors. The Ilya CT/RT will get cored out about the same time as you bring down the other mech if you try to keep DPSing while they do their burst. The trick is to time it so when they burst back, you are twisting to spread damage too. Then you continue with the monster DPS into whatever part of their mech they want to lose first lol

You guys also do know you can watch the enemy rag doll, and wait for one or two of those uac5s to jam... Also cutting in close and forcing them to turn their own torsos makes a lot of the uac5 spam miss... Serpentine motions are the name of the game if you are trying to get away. Don't be predictable in your pathing, if you have jets use them to throw off aim but don't go high or you have a lot of hang time for them to re-orient on you. Remember, Ilya's have two ballistic in the arms so they can go left/right, and up/down but the third is in the chest so it can't move. Lights need to harass uac5 users and make them waste as much of their ammo as they can, hit and run tactics here. Keep cutting them until they get frustrated and start swinging the boom stick at you, then just run off as they try to find you and your buddies get to shoot them.

These are just a few ways I've come up with to deal with the uac5 rise. I'm sure there are more eloquent folks than I who could detail scenario for you, but in the end it -really- just takes a bit of awareness of the mech you're fighting, it's abilities, and your terrain/friendlies.

4large lasers +2 mid lasers lasers is 22 tons . 46 damage per hit and you not afraid of small mechs

And how many Double Heat Sinks? LOL! You couldn't Alpha that thing more than once or face immediate shut down ffs.

It’s OP because of the rate of fire and the damage it does.

Problem is that there is no role assigned to weapons.

Might be to Gauss now tho.

If each weapon is supposed to be used for several different sitations then you cant have "this one is better than other one" scenario.
