Balanced Mechs

for the sake of game balance plase make sure every mech has at least 1 hardpoint on each side of the mech, ie the griffin even just 1 energy point in the head or the side torso or other arm would make this mech a lot more appealing.

That being said, mechs need to all have unique challenges assoicated with them to keep things from becoming too similar. The Griffin might very well be a death trap or good pilots might be able to use the fact they can use their entire left side as a shield. We won't know until they come out however so I think we are jumping the gun asking for a change right now.
On the other hand, PGI could actually release mechs for testing on the Public Test server like WoTs does so people could actually test and input feedback prior to the mech being released for use though I think that might make too much sense so obviously PGI won't ever do it.

Although honestly I think the Griffin is a **** of a mech and no amount of hardpoint rearrangment is going to change that.

I tested this on a Cataphract CTF-3D with an AC20 + LB10x build with all the guns on the right side. It worked well, just keep that left torso to you enemies when you aren't shooting. Plus if you need to shoot around a corner you don't have to expose your whole mech.

Mech was designed like that in BT, and so it shall remain. There's a reason behind everything.

Yup and with a quick Torso twist you can take the damage on your left side.

Agreed. Isn't the left side the one with that kick-*** shoulder shield? Griff and Wolverine look to run like Cents. 5 ton heavier Cents. 5 ton heavier Cents with JJ...

And no it is not a 55 ton cent, because it doesnt have the center torso hardpoints, that allow a cent lose both its side torsos and still do damage to you. There still is no 55 ton replacement for the centurion.

Man, Khobai, you never have anything nice to say

As far as weaksauce, you are of course entitled to your opinion based on your style of play, Mr. Grumpypants, but I don't think other people with different styles of play should take your assessment as the absolute fact you present it as.
You're right, it doesn't have center torso hardpoints. But a pilot who can keep the enemy hitting their empty side can still soak up a lot of damage. Wolv' has that energy slot in the head though. Cent has a second slot, but meh, 1 med laser or two, you can still lose a lot of mech and still be in it. And the Griff has more armor than the Cent. JJ will, in my opinion, make a world of difference. As far as scaling goes, I haven't seen anything official on where it sits yet, but then I haven't really been looking, so I don't know how true that is. I've seen worse hard-point placements, but again that's a matter of my opinion/play-style and really can't be stated as absolute fact.

Actually the Wolverine is pretty okay. Its the Griffin thats terrible. I mean comon, even the Kintaro looks appealing next to the Griffin, and that says a lot...
