Thankfully many of the past changes (hill climbing speeds, more accurate jump jets, corrected recoil) have helped greatly with making me feel like I'm in a lumbering, 60 ton war machine. And then a Cent runs across my field of view and my immersion falls apart.
While the Atlas has a quite natural stride thanks to its rotating hips, most (every?) other mechs in the game end up looking like toys. Thanks to humans relying on bipedal motion to get around, we're remarkably apt at recognizing the differences between a realistic and impossible stride. So when I see a mech running at full speed while keeping its hips locked my mind sees school of silly walks instead of M1A1-on-legs.
