If we just want to fight instead of divying up some of our people to hang out at the spawn point just in case a trolling group of lights wants to end the game 4 minutes in can we have a mode for that? Assault has a massive error in its implementation and it's the entire base system. If we aren't going to have bases with defenses we shouldn't have bases. Entire groups will just miss each other and the group who doesn't stay in place to cap and tries to actually find people to fight will lose, and nobody makes any money from it.

I agree. Having only two game types is really unfulfilling to begin with. Would it really be that difficult to have a 3rd mode where they just remove the bases from Assault?

You and your team are the base's defenses. You're responsible for defending that base AND for attacking the other team's base and/or enemy units. It's a strategic puzzle that you and your team are supposed to figure out how to do.

That said, the devs have hinted that they are planning on adding a straight-up team deathmatch mode eventually for those that don't like the hassle of using coordinated tactics and just want to smash up big stompy robots.

Deathmatch = Solaris.

Solaris = On the board for Development.

Way ahead of you.

Truth.

Also, bonus information: Devs have confirmed that base defenses are going to be added, which makes the OP's argument invalid. :lol:

We haven't had base defenses since bases came into play and the only talk I've heard of deathmatch was in community warfare which hasn't even begun its design cycle. None of my arguments are invalid. The idea that my team is my base defense is exactly why I want a gamemode where we do not have to decide in pugs who doesn't get to play this round in order to secure ourselves from someone who doesn't care about playing and only cares about winning. This issue is further compounded by the fact that winning does not give any more than a salvage bonus to winnings, and if you aren't fighting you aren't getting slavage anyway, meaning the component is meaningless in its present iteration.

Don't defend this broken gamemode. This might be perfectly fine for 12 v 12 premades but for PUGing it's completely senseless. Even if you're lucky enough to get somebody on board with just waiting at base all day that poor ******* is either going to get overwhelmed by a light lance or nobody is going to show up at base, meaning the rest of your team isn't on even footing for combat.
