This is intended as a serious question, not as an invitation to complain.

I expect an small influx of new players (most people that would be interested are probably here already, I would think), and an explosion of forum membership... but what's really going to change? Thoughts? I think it's going to be rough for noobs to come in now that we're all well established with our fancy mechs vs. their trials. I hope matching is going to be able to match noob to noob so they're not immediately disheartened.

Hopefully new players that aren't too put off by the grind, so that we can mentor and nurture them into an effective fighting force. Also important to retain them for the upcoming (soon) Community Warfare. I don't think this game is particularly newbie friendly either, but then again that might just mean we keep those who are very enthusiastic about the game (something like the EVE community, although that game has a lot lot more depth).

Hopefully.

I already spend some time in teamspeak adopting noobs to roll with them and help show them the ropes - it gives me a sense of fulfillment :D hopefully the community will welcome them rather than try to oust them.

I hate to be negative, but from what I've heard so far.... It'll probably just be Orion for C-bills and some balancing stuff. Can't say it'll be a big deal. Will probably be some newbies but I don't know how long they'll stay.

My guess is they will toss out something to all beta players, maybe a cockpit decoration or some paint or something (could be a mech but well i dont really think so)

I would also expect a large amount of announcements for up and coming features. In order to help hype the game.

I actually do believe PGI will pull something of out the hat and - for once, pleasantly - surprise us.

i wobble, between hope and doubt.

But the non-change in the known issues forum is worrying to say the least. Above everything else.

C-bills Orions, a new impressive trial by fire offer, I bet an UAC5 nerf (increase of jam rate or increase of recycle time? imho), maybe an ERLL nerf as well and.. nothing else.

But at least we got faster forums after one year.. about time.

I believe they are mostly spending their time creating an Xbone version of the game.

This would explain the strange lack of progress on new features, PC bugs, etc.

But I still think they will have some 'ta-da' moment on launch day.

(And to be honest, if they don't, then I will actually genuinely lose all hope.)

...aaaand, given the way the game's been headed, how is it not going in the direction of MechAssault.

Given that shameless nvidia plug when you launch the game, I doubt they would make a version for the AMD based xbox/PS. Also it would be interesting to see how such a system is managed. As far as I know there are no mainstream free to play games on a console. I would expect microsoft or sony to want a cut of any transactions.

There will be a lot of fanfare, hot air and hyperbole to hopefully convince the newbies to throw money at them for another 2 years.

As to actually anything substantial in game: Orion for cbills, uac nerf, some other patch week related changes similar to every other patch week related changes.
