I was in the mood to make a Brawler, and now with more experience under my belt for Mech-making, I thought I'd try with this.

What do you think?

I also made a version of the TDR-5sbr for Long-Range support.

Thanks for giving me some inspiration. I've been wondering what to do with the Thunderbolt, and starting with your build I think I really like this for a brawler.

As for a long range build, yes the tubes are 20 and 10, so double 15s are not your friend. You can swap in a 20 and a 10, but it costs 1 more ton, so you'll need to free up some space.

I'm working on coming up with a sniper build for it, but I haven't done anything I like yet. For some reason I suck at making builds from scratch, I can only ever take someone else's and tinker with it.

TDR-9SE

I tried this out last night and liked it quite a bit.

300std
2 JJ
16dhs

ER-Large to give you a bit of reach while you're moving into position. Basically, make nagas duck a bit if they're trying to snipe you.
2xSRM6
3xMedLaser for the brawl.

Was using Advanced Zoom and Advanced Seismic Sensor modules.

Just got my Pheonix pack today, I've been using this all day.

I'm really liking it. I'm switching between taking a ton of UAC ammo out for a ML on the arm and leaving it as is because even since a match when my entire left side went first, and I was left with one SRM6 launcher, I've been unsure about being left alive with only SRMs. Runs fairly cool, and I've been able to take on Atlas', Victors, and Highlanders with it and come out on top. Its got weak legs, but the only pilot to ever target my legs was a 1V Locust pilot with his MGs (which would be crit-seeking the ammo, smart move by the pilot).

Edit: Just an example, last match I did went 1 kill 7 kill assists 477 damage. For me, thats fantastic. Certainly one of my best matches to date. If a noob like me can do that, I'm sure that this build do a serviceable performance for anyone else.

I've found two 5SS brawler builds that are sort of "okayish". But they rely on having good teammates, which means they still kind of suck for PUGing.

STD275
2 LPLs
5 MLs
Endo, 19 DHS

Kinda slow and runs hot, so pack Cool Shots. Should be better when Elited. Still gets 400-500 dmg and at least 1 kill per game, even in ROFL stomps.

STD300
2 MPLs
5 MLs
STD structure, 22 DHS

Faster and cooler, but still runs hot. The lower range of the MPLs is a drag, but it's the only way to get max firepower and max DHS. This seems to be a workable build, but I prefer the LPL build above because it kills much quicker.

Anyway, I don't know what else to do with this variant. I also ran a 2 PPC, 2 LL, XL315 build with mediocre success. It's good if you can stay at a distance in those LRM apocalypse or AC sniper stand off duels. It's also much better on Alpine, Tourmaline, and Caustic. But whatever.

I'm still tweaking my build but this is working so far:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a809353a9fca258
I like that it can fight at mixed ranges - I tried to keep the weapon groups simple and balanced for heat. I started out with 4ML and 2 ASRM6 but dropping back a little and adding 2 more heat sinks makes it run much better. Still a little slower than I like but I'm not sure an XL will be great in this chassis - any thoughts?

Just started working on my Tbolts last weekend, I really could use some pointers.
I have been pretty much a medium mech pilot all my MWO career, with occasional splash into Awesome and Stalker.

TBolt seems to lack the speed of a medium, but carries about the same firepower as one. As big as an assault but lack their thick amour for staying power.

I have finishing grinding through the basic for the 5SS and 9SE, it wasn't pretty a sight.
Too often I would end up with only 200+ damage or sometime sub 100.
As a long time medium mech pilot, I applied torso twisting technique and often lost one or both side torso or arm first before getting CT death.

Feels like a 65 ton of dead weight to my team and I need some help improving.

Current 2 Tbolt builds.
TDR-5SS
Using the high mounted dual PPC for dealing damage at range or behind cover to soften up targets, when the brawling start they are switch to chain fire, reserved for only kill shot or when my mech is in low heat.
Relies heavily on the 5 MLaz up close but they lacks punch and have to expose my torso for the full beam duration, tried switching to 2x MPLaz on torso but runs hot quickly extending my down time to cool off.

TDR-9SE
This is build for more focus on brawling.
2x ASRM4 w 2 tonnes of ammo give me 25 shots per match, which I hardly deplete when on long match. A single LLaz give me some reach but I try to stay incognito until I have something in MLaz range or both teams stuck in a sniping war.
Heat is manageable and so far I have only overheat less then 10 time in it and only because was going for alpha kill shot. Jump Jet for climbing and gaining access someone's back armour in brawl.
The left torso is often the first thing to go in a fight.

All Basic pilot skill have been unlocked for both mech.
